• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Another 2014 RT Limited first riding report

Took delivery of my 2014 RT Limited white color two days ago. Yesterday I went for a 150 mile ride with some freeway, twisties and secondary roads. To me the engine has a low growl sound, when shifting up through the gears it sounds like a Ferrari. This motor has lots of torque, it requires less shifting. Shifts are very quick and smooth. I thought my 2013 shifted quick and smooth. The engine is much more quiet when driving. I hardly had to apply the brakes due to more compression braking from the engine. At 70 mph the engine is turning 3500 compared to my 2013 at 5000 rpms. Handling is great, feels the same as the 2013. First tank of gas was 30.8 mpg. I believe that the 2014s will be a winner.

Congrats!

:congrats:on your 2014 RT Limited...it's great to see you got in your first ryde and have good comments about it!:clap::clap:

Just wish I could get my first ryde in, however, living in the polar vortex world (Minnesnowta) does NOT allow me to ryde -- just had another 11 inches of snow yesterday/today and temps next week will be below zero -- worst winter we have had in over 20 years..........ugh.:yikes::yikes::yikes:

Anyways....congrats on a great bike! :yes::yes::yes:

Glad to hear your happy with your new :spyder2: !
Thanks for giving us your impressions on your first ride!

 You're making my palms seat... I pick mine up tomorrow!
But no riding just yet; we've got too much salt, mud, snow and ice in our roads! :gaah:

This is great to hear as I have made the decision on my first spyder(2014 RT). As I read about the trouble some people report, i was beginning to wonder if I had made the right decision, but when I read a post like yours, it encourages me in thinking I made the right decision to go to 3 wheels instead of two.
Living where I live, I probably have another 2 months before I get to ride my new purchase and I feel like a kid who's looking at the new Christmas catalogue for those who are old enough to remember those.

:agree: 800 miles on mine now. 32.8 mpg avg so far. Great bike, and within a wisker of being just as smooth and rides like my 2007 Goldwing did.

:congrats:Glad you are enjoying your new Spyder. We are picking our new RTS up in the morning and plan on a long ride Sat. and Sunday,
the temps. are going to be in the upper 60's and lower 70's all weekend! :ohyea:

Good luck and ryde safe.
Toby

I can feel for those of you who have a long cold winter. Cabin fever? Or no Spyder riding fever?

Thanks for the empathy..........freezing our :cus: off in MinneSNOWta....it may be months before I get to ryde. :yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes:

However....taking a little trip to Arizona to visit friends and ryde....not renting a Spyder, we'll do a Gold Wing there.....I'll have to learn to ryde a "regular" motorcycle again....got spoiled on my 2012 RT Limited and look forward to getting more spoiled on my 2014 RT Limited!:yes::yes::yes:

You made me think of the Lionel Train Catalog!! I'd wear that out every year around Christmas time. Your comment brought back great memories.

Oh - enjoy your new ride -- Spring is around the corner.

Bob if it is any consolation it is snowing here this morning. Guess I will sit on my new ride in the garage and pretend that I am riding it.
