Annoying Problem - Turn Signal

This just started happening. When I make a left turn the directional auto-cancels. When I make a right turn the same is not always true. I now have to cancel the directional manually with increased frequency. As I travel the same routes often I know this was not an issue in the past.

Has anyone else experienced this or anyone know if there is an adjustment?

Your situation may be different. You may truly have an issue. However, I have found that this occurs on mine depending on the sharpness of the turn or degree of the turn.

My complaint with the turn signal is that it's so "dad gum" small for these fat fingers I have. I find that I'm constantly "over correcting" when I go to turn it off and instead it signals the other way.

So true. I look like a tourist that doesnt know which direction to turn at times. Now I look down at my mudflap lights to see if it went off or the other direction...LOL

My left turn signal doesn't work sometimes when you move the switch. Sometimes it takes several attempts moving the switch to get the left turn signal to work. The right turn signal works fine all the time

If you are having troubles with the turn signals (other than those caused by stubby fingers ), take the Spyder to your dealer. The multifunction contol pod will probably have to be replaced. Turn signals should work the same...either right or left.

This has been a problem on my RT-S since I took delivery in March. The switch (only) was replaced, but the issue remained. It also was nearly impossible to engage the cruise control. Recently, after BRP insisted that the dealer technician ride the Spyder and duplicate the problems, both the left and rights switch pods were replaced along with something in the dash. This corrected the cruise problem, but sometimes I still can't engage the left turn signal on the first attempt. Also my odometer read zero miles.

The turn signals are both activated and cancelled by the multi-function switch. According to the manual, the steering angle sensor sends a signal to the switch when the turn is initiated, and then when it returns to zero. At the return to zero, the multi-function switch cancels the turn signal. Your problem could be caused by a faulty multi-function switch, or a steering angle sensor that is not zeroed at center. It will take some troubleshooting via BUDS to check the signals and see what is happening. The SAS is zeroed through BUDS. Looks like it is time to see your dealer.

:agree: Happens to me all the time, usually after I went right and want to cancel the signal, next thing I notice is I am signaling left! I thought I was a dork :shocked: and asked sinkhole if he had had similar issues. He told me to push the cancel button twice and it should stop it.

I've got the same problem. VERY annoying. Happens all the time when changing lanes from left to right. Signal right, change lanes, hit the cancel switch and the left turn signal starts up. :gaah: hit the cancel again, and it stops.

I have had the same problem until very recently. I did not have this problem - this past weekend. I have 2700 miles on RT.

Thanks. I'll bring this to the dealer's attention the next time I bring it in. I feel more confident when I can give them a hint as to what is wrong when I drop ot off.

I have the same problem with my Spyder. The right works great but left takes several attempts. I've had a few times the left signal has not turned off. Not enough to be a problem and may be no more that the angle of the turn.

My turn signal is just a plain pain in the tail to get to cancel. It often goes to the opposite of the side it was on when I go to cancel it. Yeah just another tourist on a trike I guess. I have found limited success with pressing hard and long to get it to cancel and have been doing that when I can remember to. Bill

Mine too. Very difficult to cancel on the first try. In fact, it's equally difficult on the fifth try too! Even harder when wearing gloves. Sure wish it wasn't so sensative...

I think they all will, but the problem is that on the RT, the left and right springs are weaker than the cancel spring, so the button wants to slip to the side, with even a tiny bit of side pressure. On my wife's RS, it is just the opposite.

Yes, but even the slightest pressure left or right while trying to cancel will result in the blinker flashing instead of canceling. It's very frustrating.
