• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

An unsolicited call from BRP...

Thx for post. As with others I thought this was something normal. Pretty much done for this year will take to dealer in March once the dust has settled over problem. Who knows maybe BRP will send another letter.

We can only hope

A clunk into first gear is normal for many motorcycles...including the Spyder.

Yep my 2011 RTS SM5 clunks going into first and I have been told it's normal. Something about the gear shape. I also get a lighter clunk going into 2nd. I road with a bunch of people here with other RT's and theirs does the same thing either SM5 or SE5.

I'm sure some "clunk" is OK but my bike actually moves (surges), doesn't that seem a little severe? Believe me if I knew that it's not damaging anything else every time it does it, then I can accept that. I guess I need to go check out some 2 wheels and feel their "clunk".

I hear you on that mine bangs pretty hard too and am wondering if it has caused the oil seepage I have experienced at the clutch inspection cover.

I had recieved a call from a BRP representative this week too....it was very nice to hear from them even though I have not had any problems with my 2013 STS....he asked what things they could do to improve future STS models, and what I liked about mine, and what improvements I would like to see...I was very surprised, and impressed........Yes mine clunks a bit going into first gear, but so did all my two wheelers...so I have always figured it was a normal thing....once it warms up, the clunk is a lot less......I love my STS....and hopefully there will be no problems.....should turn over the 2500 mile mark this weekend.:ohyea::ohyea:
:ohyea: yeah!!

Good post

I'm only at 700-800 miles and love my bike too. Hopefully get many happy miles w/ it.

I think if I could change one thing on the bike it would be a thumb throttle like 4wheelers have. The twist throttle just kills my wrist and limits my ride time. Been trying to get use to it and using advice found on this forum, but it still kills me.

Sorry to say that...

...the chattering at take off is still there even after the centrifugal clutch change. I will call the BRP rep that called me and let him know. This change supposedly resolved the issue on other Spyders.

I only have that when I first start my spyder and engage. After that, it seems to go away. Sounds like some chipmunks underneath with some vibration.

Check out Kuryakyn grips with the optional throttle boss. Between the larger isolation grip and the palm tab to help control the throttle it really helps.
