There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. An interesting set of custom earplugs

I have been dealing with wind noise over the last few months and decided to do something about it. I tried several disposal earplugs they worked assuming I could get them inserted just right. (happened rarely). I decided to get custom ear plugs made, at the start I went to get regular solid plugs, then I discovered westone makes a specific pair for motorcycles. Strangely, I could not find any reviews on this specific earplug. So after going to the audiologist I had both standard earplugs made and the westone 4rt motorcycle earplugs.

The westone 4rt plugs worked great. They block 98% of the wind noise while still allowing you to hear everything that is going on. I have no idea how this truly works since they are hollow plugs but they do work.

The custom solid plugs work well as well but they cost the same and my hearing is reduced.

Fyi, it was much cheaper going to the audiologist and buying than ordering them directly or online.

Just wanted to share my experience

EAR NOISE

Thanks for sharing that info....it's just another fine example of SPYDERLOVE........:hun:.....:agree:......Mike.....

Pretty cool. Glad you found a solution.

Interesting note, we will have BigEar Inc at SpyderFest. They make custom fit ear plugs and buds. So I read your post thinking how appropriate the timing may be for others trying to solve the same issue.

:):):)

Interesting technology. I may have to try them sometime. I do have the BigEar custom plugs and I swear by them. I have very difficult ears to fit with standard plugs. The BigEars fit perfectly, don't hurt, and do the job better than any standard plug I ever tried...and I tried many. Well worth the cost and the short time it takes to fit them and prep them. Stop by the BigEar tent and you may be as convinced as we were.

There are some nice solutions out there for plugs. The main reason I went for these is they only cut 7-9db of noise but its targeted at the freq of wind noise. This means I can hear everything else at regular volume levels. I still don't know how they pull it off but I can tell you that it works well.

Which ones of the Westone's are specifically for motorcycles? I did a search and it turned up some guy thanking them for his motorcycle plugs but it doesn't specify a page on their site. Am I missing something?

I do like that concept. I don't mind the greater attenuation afforded by other custom plugs, but as I continue to lose more of the higher frequencies, it would be nice to let them through while filtering out some of the lower stuff. I'll definitely give the Westones a good look next time around.

I just ordered the Westone 4RTs. I'll want to also look at the Bigear when we get to Cuba based on Scotty's recommendation. This will be our first long trip and I want to have something to help with the trip up there. Thanks guys!

S plugs

I must have 10 different kinds of ear plugs. All of which were PIA to either put in, take out or wear for extended periods of time. At last, I found my Nirvana. I bought a set of Splugs. Actually, I bought the earbuds. I would think the regular plugs would work the same. They fit down in the ear so there is no issue wearing them with a helmet. You don't even know they are there when you put on your helmet. Very comfortable. I plug my earbuds into my G4 and the sound is excellent. For me, these are the bomb. Plus the regular earplugs are considerablely cheaper than the Westones.

I have the BigEars and have been very pleased with them for the past 5+ years. I tried all the over the counter ear plugs and never could find ones that was easy to put in and fit correctly.

Trickie Dick,

I checked out the site and am interested. I don't see different sizes. Is it one size fits all?

Yes, I think the ones I have only come in one size. They fit deep in your ear so there is very little protrusion. I have the Splug ear buds and you remove them by pulling your ear back and out to relieve the suction and then pull them out by the wire. It really is pretty comfortable.

I have a G4 also and I dont see how you plug earbuds in to it. How is this done? Would love to go to earbuds.

I had this lady that I found on ADVrider.com do the mod for me. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=694473
She added an outlet to plug in my earbuds. I also had her add a male plug to current speaker wiring so I can go back and forth. She does a very professional job and her turnaround is quick. I think mine was a week or a little less. I highly recommend her.
If you are handy with soldering and wiring, there is a thread on ADVrider showing how to do the mod yourself.
