• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Am I the only one with a slow F3?

Here's the video of Earnhart's run...

If you add in about a 4% margin of error: he might have been seeing 127 mph on his gauges...

You should never ever ride down the road at 45mph in a 55mph zone!!!! You should not be in the left lane on the interstate unless overtaking another vehicle. You should not be within 3 seconds of another vehicle when driving as you will be following to closely.

Yet I see people causing back ups on surface roads by driving at a "safer" speed, setting the cruise when on the highway and "checking out" in the left lane, and tailgating in the name of "going with the flow of traffic". All of these behaviors cause large groups of vehicles to gather, and can potentially lead to multiple vehicle pile-ups.

So, to all you posters telling the OP how to ride: these bad driving habits are just as dangerous as high speed, and are a lot more prevalent on the road. If you don't have an answer to his question, please don't waste time preaching at him.

Just sayin'............

While I "kind of" agree with what you've said : preaching to the preachers, is usually just as ineffective! :roflblack:

My thoughts exactly, Lamont. Big screens also impact handling especially in crosswinds.....
My Indian has a large, removable shield. I leave it on in the cooler weather or possibly for a cross-country trip. It's off as soon as the temps come up. (I hate riding with a shield) My gas mileage goes up by 2 mpg as soon as the shield is off and the bike is much more stable. That 2 mpg is evidence of just how much the bike's aerodynamics is affected.

Chad,
After reading your signature: I came up with a little something for you and your family... :D

I agree with Chad. I rode with you last year at Spyderquest and I like the way you ride.

I was already did 102 on my new F3 Limited with a passenger and I had throttle left so 104 top speed does not sound right.

RPM

What kind of RPM were you showing at 104mph? Were you anywhere near the RPM limiter?
To tell you the truth, didn't look . I will be testing it out again soon, with out windscreen. people at F-4 wants to know how much drag also. Will report back for the people that want to know the difference with and with out the windscreen.

Hey guys am i the only one with a slow f-3 top end mph 104. I was surprised i was figuring on about 115 mph at lease. i do have a 28" F-4 wind screen. That has to be hurting the mph some. I have stock exhaust, no mods except the F-4 wind screen. It runs hard up to about 100 mph after that not much more. what kind of speed have some of you guys run with a wind screen, stock exhaust. I am going to take the F-4 wind screen off just to see how much it does hurt mph. will put it back on after the test, go to have my F-4 .

Got mine up to 109 yesterday. No windshield and on straight highway. Just wanted to see what it could do. Still felt like it could have gone faster. Probably not going to push it though.

I ride my machine fast often, from my experience it tops out around 125-130

What can i do

Is that real speed, like what the navi indicates or what is on the speedometer?
I was told that is was limited around 180 km/h which would be around 112 , so I was already surprised to get to 115.
It is not really important but when driving in Germany I would not mind getting to 125!
So what is your secret:banghead:

The bikes sold over here have no "speed Limiters" programmed into them. While I don't know about the Euro-Bikes: I would guess that they don't either.

Limiters

Bob,
think/hope you meant to write "no" limiters. Will check here once again and try it out in Germany next week;)

2015 Top Speed

My fastest at 1600 mi has been 110 mph in 5th gear SE6 on the speedo. I have tenative plans to run at a 1 mi airport strip with timing lights 132' apart at the end. If I'm allowed I will run with the aftermarket windscreen & bags & then remove the aftermarket windscreen & bags for more runs. It has been my experience that all vehicle run faster in the early morning cooler temperature==denser air. I've had some issues with the track owners thus my racing spot in not quaranteed at this time--but I am hopeful. I will keep you posted if all things go well. My prior 110 mph speed run in 5 th gear on a 2015 F3's SE6 still was climbing when traffic forced me to drop back to a safe mode of speed. I'm not sure if a 1 mile run is aquate for a top speed run but I'll do my best if allowed.
I agree that excessive speed on a freeway--non controller environment is not in the best interest of the rider & traffic.
