• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Alignment

Thank you guys. It was very helpful. I guess there are always more than one way to skin a cat(who skinned the first cat and why???). Will report back when I am done. Can not wait. Got a lot of things planned. New skin for red panels, black out every thing, paint muffler.

Are there any platinum services in the US equipped with alignment tools (and knowlege) from BRP?

To the best of my knowledge, BRP does not have any alignment tool other than the steering centering jig. The book procedure calls for a marked piece of aluminum angle, some straps and clamps, and a magnetic laser level from the hardware store. They sent my dealer down to Menards when he asked about alignment tools a couple of years back.

In the 2008-2011 Can-am Spyder GS/RS Service manual, section 07, subsection 02, page 526 it lists everything you need to do the alignment. Also tells you how to do it.

Since the trunk is in the way it's hard to measure the tire tread to tread that is why I use something long clamped or screwed to the rotors a long piece of wood or medal will show up the angles more than just the 24 in of the tires the rotors are true to tha spindles and if your straight surface is a few ft long it will show up the toe in or out very well so if you measure with a tape measure not a yard stick as some implied the measurement. Close to the front and a few ft away will be equal if it no toe the front measurement will be wider toe out less toe in just an 1/8 less in the front is what my second Spyder checked factory setting ,yes the Spyder is high Tec electric steer dps,abs and so on but the need for the front tires to be parallel and slightly toe in hasn't change since the model T with wood frames yes you need to turn the steering rods equal and only a 1/16 turn at a time and recheck but it sure can be done with out laser 's and such most early Spyder 's were toe out and earth and many lost tires fast dealers usually won't. Cover tire anyway
Wow.

Ride more, talk less :doorag:

Spyder on!

Doc...........Honda East Toledo, OH has the tools and the tech Dan Cunningham is brp trained.

Read the weight adjustments in your manual for your shocks. If under shocked, wear on inside of tires. Over shocked wear on outside. Adjust by weight. It does help. 18,000 miles on my fronts and no wear. All even.

60,000 miles with OEM front tires, no change in the shocks, 12,000 with the second set. :dontknow:
I have shocks set on three and I weigh 280. Add bags and duffel for trip, another 50 lbs. Still om three. I should set to four but I never go faster that 100 so it doesnt matter.
