• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ok folks, time to ask for opinions. I'm looking for an alarm for my RTS. What's out there, prices, ease of installation etc.

Best one I've found is the Scorpio i900

2-way alarm. 1 mile radius. Plus a proximity sensor that actually WORKS.

I like my Talon 3300p. Pretty straight forward install with the Spyder specific pig-tail (cost extra).

Alarm?

Do you really need an extra alarm? I thought the chip in the key would be enough. What are the issues I should be considering? What am I missing? Thanks!

People messing with the :spyder2: while it's parked in public. Some yahoo trying to make off with it, just the usual stuff. When I first got it, we went to a local eatery, when we came out there were shoe prints on the seat. At home it's in the garage. It's just extra protection.

i900 is awesome

I installed one on my RT. Love the Prox sensor. I found that i can still detect when it goes off in many of the large stores around here while shopping. Lets me know if people are getting just a bit to close to the bike. I got mine off ebay for 324 with all the add ons included such as prox, and disabler. I didn't hook up the disabler as the key of the spyder pretty much does the same thing.

:agree: on the Scorpio.

The proximity sensor works great - when someone gets close it beeps, closer still they get the full siren treatment.

And the remote is rechargeable.

May get one after the holidays. I agree with getting the proximity sensor. That is the only reason you'd want to get an alarm to deter the jokers who think they can get on it as a "WallyWorld Quarter Ride" machine.

I have the same system, it is great!! Also it's Scorpio not Scorpion which is probably why you have trouble looking it up.

I just bought the Scorpio SR-i800S system with perimeter sensor and Spyder wiring kit for my 2009 SE5.

Although I have read ALL their instructions twice, I still doubt as to the best location on the Spyder for the main module and for the perimeter sensor.

Any advice for those who have installed their own systems and/or pictures will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Pilo

I have the Scorpio SR I800 RFID Security System and it too has a prox sensor. I like not having to manually arm or disarm the system because the remote talks to the unit using RFID.
