• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Airhawk R question

Buggy

New member
On my last bike I installed a tall boy seat which raised me up 1" and back 1.5". It completely changed the ride for the better. I feel cramped on my RT but don't want to spend the big bucks for a new seat right now. I am only 6'1" so I think the biggest benefit I got from the old bike seat change was being lifted up the inch.

The question is...would the Airhawk provide this lift in a useable way. The Airhawk inflates two inches but you might feel like you perched wobbly on it at this level of inflation. Any info from a Airhawk user would be appreciated.

Cheers

Properly inflated the AirHawk will lift you about an inch off of the seat. You don't sit on an AirHawk as much as you it "in" an AirHawk.

And no you don't feel "wobbly" if it is properly inflated.

Good advice in previous post. You sit "in" and not "on."

I have a bad hip. I carry both an Airhawk and a sheepskin/gel pad. Sometimes to get the proper extension of the leg to relieve pain I use a combo. Sheepskin on the bottom and then the Airhawk.

There are times when the combo does it just right for the pain of the day.

i didn't like the air hawk because i felt like my butt moved around on it, i bought a sheepskin gel seat and i love it. it raises me up and is very comfy. i am 6 ft tall and i felt cramped even with the comfort seat that i have, so in a effort to find a comfortable riding position i ordered lamonts highway pegs and let me tell you it was the best money i ever spent. so between the comfort seat, gel pad and the highway pegs i feel the bike is perfect right now.

I don't really think the Air Hawk will help with the being cramped feeling. It does raise you up ever so slightly when it's filled properly. If it's over inflated it does give you a weird sensation like you are moving around a little on the seat. Air Hawks aren't cheap either if you end up not liking it. It would be ideal if you could borrow one for a day and see if it's what you need.

Try the Airhawk "R" they have a great return policy if you don't like it. and remember to sit "IN" it not "ON" it.

Which highway from Lamont did you get the NBV or FFB.

Since you have a 2013 RT SE5 I would get the floor board mount brackets complete with the pegs.
I have seen these on Lamonts 2014 Spyder RT and I think they would work the best with the RT factory floorboards.
The other highway brackets that are for pre2013 spyders mount differently and are not as comfortable for me to use.

If I get highway brackets and pegs it will be the floorboard bracket mount see above link
