Air Intake System

Removed the factory air intake from my '13 ST. This is what came out.

I figure more than two cubic feet of stuff that just made it run hotter. The air had to travel about three feet through the system to get to the throttle body. Intake for fresh air is just behind left wheel. Then it goes all the way to the right side, turns around and heads back to the middle of bike.

Interesting..!!

nothing like the airbox on the RS 2012. But ours left a big space all the same now working on installing turbo fans into this space for cooling and air flow...:thumbup:

Chupaca: I see your frame is different. You have a piece of the frame covering the power steering. On mine the power steering box is much more visible. I can actually see the ground when I look into the bike.

Made my own with some baking pans. But I think yours would have been worth the price.

The factory air filter goes between the thing on the upper right and the one on the lower right. You get to it from the front. In other words, to replace the air filter you must remove all the plastic on the right side of the bike.

J Scott , I think it is the idle air. Not used on a 2013.

On the RS 2012 the idle air sensor hose connects to the stock air box. Apparently the models after have a different air box. At least the one pictured. Ours is one big box with lid. Kewl metal removes the hose and zip ties a foam filter to it I found the small breather fits on the hose and you don't have to go up under the cowl...JT offers it with the kit for the models needing them...:thumbup:

Quieter..!!

switched out the air cleaner in the JT system to a K&N filter and it made it quieter for those who fear the noise. You can also put a foam breather band around the Wix filter to help absorb the sound...:thumbup:
