• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Advertising rules on forum?

My understanding is that this forum is Q & A and comments for owners/ryders. Why is the same guy hawking his wares when there is a separate page for advertisers? Not pissed, just curious.

Send me or any of the other Mods a PM with details & we will look into your concerns/explain what we can. ;)

That said, right up the top of every page there is a link to 'Advertise on Spyderlovers' that everyone/anyone can read; and there is a specific Forum section where Sponsors/advertisers can post their wares etc; the Home page has a listing of the major sponsors/advertisers on it; while at the bottom of the main index 'Forum' header page is a 'Spyderlovers Legend' which shows you what the various username colours mean - using the default colour layout, Moderators have 'Green' usernames, while any poster with a 'Black' username is a recognised Sponsor/advertiser & allowed to post adverts in the public pages (within the applicable rules for their 'sponsor/advertiser level', of course! ;) ) .

Oh, and you might notice that I've moved this thread into the 'Forum Support & Testing' section too - cos it is more Forum Support than it is anything else, but regardless, it definitely isn't 'Spyder General Discussion'! :lecturef_smilie:

I might also mention that it is okay to "mention" a product that you may have encountered that you like. No unpaid ads are allowed though.

Reviews are okay, ads are not.

Moderators will determine as to what constitutes an ad.

We have had a few who have tried to skirt the rules, but they are usually dealt with quickly.

Whatever the rules are:

I'm fed up with the same guy pushing his products, day after day.

But why is this a problem to you?? :dontknow:

Surely, if you can tell us it's always the same guy then you are clearly recognising his username; and if that's the case, why not simply avoid reading any threads started/Adverts posted by that user?!? ;) Or if you prefer, you could even add that Sponsor's username to your ignore list, and then you won't ever get to see any of his posts again.... well, not unless YOU choose to open one (or more?) for whatever reason?!?

But the Sponsors ARE helping keep this place alive, and while ever they continue to do so within the bounds of the Forum Rules & their agreement, I'd guess they are pretty likely to remain as mainly appreciated fixtures. :ohyea: Besides, there's obviously still some users who are interested and getting some benefits from those adverts/his posts, otherwise there'd be no reciprocal benefit to the Sponsor and so no reason to continue posting, don't you think? :dontknow:

All of which really leaves the ball entirely in your court oldgoat - you can learn to live with the Sponsors Posts/Adverts; you can choose to ignore his threads/posts whenever you see them on an as occurs/individual basis; or you can add that username to your ignore list and so not even get to see any of them in the first place. ;) Whichever choice you make from those is entirely up to you!
