• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The wife and I have enjoyed a 2008 Suzuki Burgman 650 Executive for the past three years and right at 18,000 miles. I have a number of health issues and figured it was time to get a more stable platform. We have looked at trikes from Harley Davidson, Honda, and even ordered a Stallion that could not be built or delivered until late this fall and we ordered it 10 months ago. I have looked at the Spyder in the past and even test rode the sport model a year ago and it turned the wife off immediately, as she did not want a crotch rocket.

Anyway, we saw the Roadster and really liked the looks of it. It has nearly all of the features we were looking for and the trailer option was important to us for vacations.

After a couple of trips back and forth to the dealership we decided on the Pearl White Limited with matching trailer package. Marty @ Bradford Marine in Springdale has been most helpful.

It will be a couple of weeks before we take delivery since I chose to have them go ahead and install the Corbin seat package and arm rests instead of me having to mess with it at a later date.:2thumbs:

I've been lurking here for a few days and like what I see. Some of you may recognize me from some of the shooting boards, as I am an avid shooter. As it is indicated by my handle I am a retired sailor.

Regards to all,
Rich

:welcome: Excellent choice of color. :firstplace: I just got the RT Limited with matching RT-622 trailer last week and love it. :2thumbs: I am thinking of putting the Corbin seat with armrests also. I am going to Spyderfest and hopefully will see a couple Spyders with this setup.

:welcome::congrats::spyder2:ON. I'm picking up my Corbin heated seat, backrest and armrest on Mon. and I hope to install it on Tues. so you can have a look at my RTS Limited all chromed out with the Corbin set-up .

Thanks folks. My salesman told me about this site and Ya'll helped to make our purchase decision, because you guys are the real experts and have nothing to gain or lose. Plus, I told him that I have been reading posts here and will hold his feet to the fire on problems.:roflblack:

Congrats

Hi Rich, Congrats to y'all on the 3 wheels. I just joined this joined this site to gain info about Spyder. DH and I are retired Army - he Active Duty, me a combo of Active/Reserve/and DA Civillian. We're in a "transition" with our Bikes. We just sold his 06 Kawasaki Vulcan 2000 (Big and Heavy) and we will be 2 Up on my 2010 Kaw 1700 Nomad. I bought it last year, up from a Vulcan 900, and then realized I just couln't handle that Big Bike/deal w/the weight. Not Fun! So, we'e down to one again. In the future, Looking to add Trike (The Spyder on the top of our list). btw, I rode a Burgman 650 for a yr in between motorcycles.. I'm thinking the Spyder might feel a bit like the Burgy. Just a wild guess. I'm still learning a lot. Karen - Atlanta Ga ...

:welcome: Take a demo ride or two. You won't regret it!

:congrats: retiredsquid

Welcome to a lot of fun on your :spyder2: I came to the :f_spider: from 2005 Burgman 400 with 41,000 miles of riding and not sorry. My hubby is also a retired sailor and ride a Gold Wing. Did you ever attend the scooter rallies that was in Eureka Spring?

Ruthie,
Thanks for the nice welcome. We live about 8 miles west of Eureka Springs. So, we live in God's Country if there ever was such a place to live.:2thumbs:

We went to the Scoot the Ozarks thing a couple of years ago, but with the wife being in the Naval Reserve it makes some of these things a bit difficult for us to attend together.

We have really enjoyed the Burgman Exec and the 650 has loads of power to spare IMO, but I have a number of physical problems from the military years that just are not going to allow me to remain on two wheels.
Regards,
Rich

Karen,
Thanks for yours and your husband's service. 24 years Regular Navy for my part. I met my wife in Sicily just prior to my retirement and she was a brand spanking new ensign fresh out of OCS. So, she has 17 years in as of this month with just a bit over five of them active duty and the rest as a reservist. She does not want a bike of her own and prefers to ride behind me for now -- I'm pushing to get her into a Rider's Edge Safety Course, though. Maybe I'll be able to get her up front then.

The ride seems quite different with the Spyder versus the Burgman. In some ways it feels a bit like my 4-wheeler, except a lot more stable and easier to steer.

My salesman just called a few minutes ago and said it may be up to three weeks before the bike is ready. The delay is getting the seat from Corbin. Plus, obtaining the matching trailer.

I am certainly going to have to get some real floorboards and highway pegs installed before any long trips are taken. I just have to figure out how to get my arthritic right leg across the bike without dragging it across the seat.

I highly recommend a test ride. We absolutely hated the sport version with manual tranny. Night and Dad difference between the RTS Limited and the sport model.
Regards,
Rich
