• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

aching back

I have an rt and some of the passengers I've taken for a ride complain of an aching back after wards. Have others owners had similar complaints? Any suggestions on how the make the ride more comfortable for passengers?

Sometimes, those who are not familiar with riding on a Spyder, may be sitting a little funny or tensed up. These conditions can lead to aching back. There is not much extra you can do since the RT has a passenger back rest built into the trunk. Optional arm rests are available from Corbin and such. You are looking at extra $'s though.

When I begin each season, I have to re-stretch and re-train my muscles. Sometimes it takes a half dozen drives or so before I can ride with less pain.

backs

my wife has about 3800 miles on the back of our rt and loves it--she says its much better than the Harley.

The riders back rest from BRP is not that great. 1. You can put a air pad on the back.2. Put a driver back rest for you on so you can rest better and not lean on the person on the back side of you. 3 . Put ADJ bars on for you to so your arms and back are not getting tired of steering the bike 4. Get a better full seat and full back rest from one of the dealers here on spyderlovers.

Armrests, armrests, armrests!!!! Oh and did I mention armrests?

Chris

I agree on armrests! I've got the Diamond R chrome armrests. All my passengers say they're great. I like the fact that they fold in when not in use. Look at their website, they're one of our sponsors. I believe they did have a sale going on for their black ones!

AK is onto something also.
a tense passenger, will always feel the effects of that tension.
Make sure that they're relaxed and feeling confident,

Have to agree..!!

passenger needs to get used to the ryde and relax. We have the RS and wife said she had back pain on long rydes, got the back rest and that helped her relax. Also changed the seat so she was level rather than leaning forward. This may not be the case on RT. Arm rests would also make them feel more secure therefore relaxing...things to try..!!

I have a back rest for me, the driver. are you talking about an air bag on the passenger seat

Also check your rear footboard height setting. Having the footboards too low can lead to fatigue, odd postures, and possible pain. If you always carry the same passenger, adjust for that person, so he/she does not have to stretch the legs to reach the footboards and so the feet can sit flat. For multiple riders I'd start with the center setting.

Passengers sometimes have a hard time trusting backrests. If they tend to lean forward instead of just sitting back to enjoy the ride, they can fatigue easily or strain the core muscles. Yours is the first complaingt I have heard of this problem for the RT passenger, BTW.
