Prayers her way from Florida
So sorry to hear that. I also hit a deer with my 2012 Spyder in Nov 2016, that jumped out of no where, it seemed. I never even saw it until I hit it. But I ran over its hind legs and stayed on the Spyder. I was going about 50 MPH also. It scared me , or shocked me. But I was not hurt. The deer’s hind legs were both broken, and I tried to lift it up, but couldn’t. Front end of my Bike was bent, but I was able to drive it home. Insurance Appraiser gave me $1300 for damages. Bike was in the Shop over a month. Prayers for Kathy! I am riding my new Harley now, on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and I am seeing lots of deer, especially Fawns, so am really cautious, as they seem to be programed to jump rignt out in front of me. The loud pipes on my Harley help warn then. My 2016 Spyder has been in the shop for a month now, with out any Progress report or Action Plan from my Dealer. Sounds like Kathy’s Soyder will be out of commission for awile. Hope Kathy heals quickly.I copied this from Facebook;

For those of you who know Doc and Kathy Humphreys, I wanted to let you know Kathy got hit by a deer going 55 mph this morning. Deer jumped out, hitting her center mass. Spyder flew one way, jumping a hill and landing in the trees. Kathy flew to the right. Thankfully no head trauma as far as brain bleed or concussion. But she has a deep cut above her nose, multiple broken ribs, a broken foot. Road rash over 90% of her body, including the side of her face. No internal injuries. When they went back to get things out of her bike, it was upright and still running. ....

Every motorcycle accident really upsets me. I have been riding for 63 years and back in 1980 I had my first and only accident and my wife was hurt. Not real serious but her right knee was pretty bad. It bothers her yet today. My prayers will sure go out to Mrs. Humphrey.
