Accident and Spyder totaled

So glad you are ok ! Someone was definitely looking over you :)

Did you take out total replacement with Progressive ? We have them and they were great with our claim - covered all our extras we had receipts for including helmets, jackets, any protective gear ... And since we opted to carry total replacement for the first two years they have us MSRP. We had less then 150 miles on the bike when it was totaled.

Hopefully you'll have as good of an experience as we did and get a reasonable adjuster.

Good luck and keep taking care of yourself - go right back to the Dr. If anything changes or you feel something change. As others have said better safe then sorry !

Well, it looks like this may not be too "fun". Talked to insurance claims guy. He said they will fix it as it's only $3700 in parts. They are working to tow it to Middletown cycle. I asked about the swing arm as it's off center to the left. He didn't notice as he thought it was just the tire. :banghead: Wrong. Anyhow, I will wait til the bike gets to Middletown and I want to meet the adjuster their with them and thier mechanic. The claims guy said if the frame is bent then they can replace the frame. :yikes:

Sheesh!

This is what mine looked like last February when I had my accident. You can't see it, but the complete trunk and passenger backrest came off as did the saddle bags and what else you see in the picture. The front end was also messed up as well even though you can't see from pic. Progressive totalled mine and paid as I previously posted.

Your's in a LOT worse than mine. I just don't like the idea of a bent frame being fixed or replaced. I don't want troubles 2 years (or sooner) down the road.

Definitely had some guardian angels watching over you. Will be praying there's no after effects and insurance comes through on your roadster

sorry, i havent read all the posts since your original post so...

have you seen your doctor? is everything ok (relatively speaking)

take care of yourself and get back on the horse when its ready to go....

Can't believe it ...

How in the world did you survive that without real serious damage to your body?! The Lord above was looking out for you AND what in the heck was wrong with the cab driver? Didn't he see you at all? I know you're thankful! Good luck with all.

First off.. I'm alright and at home. Will go to Doctor tomorrow to have a check out but so far no pains.

heading West on I-275 in Kentucky towards airport. I was the tail gunner for a PGR mission to the airport to bring a soldier home. I was doing 60 mph in traffic and then WHAM! I saw it a split second and gunned it but didn't get to the shoulder. Witness stopped and said he say the whole thing. Taxi cab was traveling fast and slammed into me. Taxi driver said he was doing 60. Uh.. WRONG. He hit me had enough that my cooler flew out the right saddlebag and I ran it over with the right front tire.

Managed to stay on the bike and a small scratch on my helmet visor. The bike just went over 600 miles. KY is a no fault state so no citations issued (grr.....). Progressive insurance notified.

Back to the whole totalled or not issue...
I had an "issue" just over a year ago. :opps:
Almost $13000 in damage to the Spyder, and over $9300 to the car that I "had my issue with". :opps::opps:
The Company didn't bat an eyelash as they paid for the repairs...

update... Middletown Cycle has had the bike since 15 Oct. They are still working on the repair estimate. I have contacted a lawyer and the are working my case from their perspective. Still healthy and for that part I'm thankful.

I was there last week and Jacob said that the insurance adjuster was expected on Wed. Do you know if he showed? At that time Jacob had a list of 30 parts that needed to be replaced.

OMG! I'm soooo glad to here you're ok! Michigan is a no fault state too but, tickets are still issued if someone's at fault. If the other driver is at fault then your insurance can go back on their insurance.

I can only go by what the KY police said regarding the ticket - "We would if we could".

As of this AM, the adjuster was to be at Middletown Cycle today or tomorrow. I did talk to Jacob a while ago and mentioned to check the front end as they hooked up there to drag it up the flatbed.

accident

We give thanks to GOD that you were able to walk away. Hope that the check is good as well.:spyder2:

So glad you are okay. Thank god you were on a Spyder, or it would have been much more serious.

Been a while buy I just heard from the insurance company adjuster. Looks like the "estimate" is $18.5K. He's putting all the info from the dealer into their system. He said I should know something by next week.
