Abs light and swerve light flicker at stop light

I just drove from Georgia to Colorado with my daughter on back. We are having a great time on the Spyder and heading home on Sunday.

On my final day pulling into Colorado Springs, I noticed the ABS and swerve light indicators would flicker on and off for a second after I stopped at stop lights. My first thought was maybe my bike was getting hot and causing sensor problems as i was riding at a constant 82 MPH all the way through Kansas.

I had my brake pads replace before I left Georgia.

By the way, I average about 25 MPG normally. Through Kansas at 82 MPH, I dropped to 20 MPG.

I have about 12,000 miles on my 2012 RTS SE.

Any thoughts from any of you veterans out there? Should I have her checked out before I head back?

When I've seen that it almost always relates to low voltage. I would check all your connections.

Teddy has a couple of suggestions for you

Curious if you tried bringing up any stored Fault Codes :dontknow:

If not, its easy to check. Just make sure your Spyder is running, and then use your thumb to press both the Mode & Set Buttons together and use your other hand and push in on the Turn Signal Cancel Button just like you would to cancel the signal. All 3 need to be depressed at the same time for a second or two and if you do it correctly, your center LCD screen should either show a blank screen denoting no fault codes or if you do have a fault code, it will display & look something like this:

If you do show a code, you can report it here & those of us with access to a repair manual can look it up for you and further advise you on a cause & possible remedy.

With all that being said, since you just had your brake pads replaced, I'm curious if maybe you might be just a tad bit low on brake fluid, and when your coming to a stop, the level is moving with inertia just enough to send that signal for just a moment like your experiencing.

I'm no pro, just thinking out loud, but these would be a couple of things worth checking if I were in your shoes, Fault Codes & making sure your Brake Fluid is Full :thumbup: Good luck & Teddy sends plenty of lick'ns

CyncySpyder, I checked out the codes and the screen came up blank so no faults (by the way, thanks for that trick...did not know that!) Tell Teddy thanks for the licks...never been licked on a forum before...:clap:

I would agree about the voltage, both the battery voltage and connections, as well as the charging voltage. If everything checks out OK there I'd look at the rear ABS sensor gap, dirty or damaged sensor wheel, a failing sensor itself, or for a loose wire or bad connection leading to that sensor. Water in the rear ABS sensor connection is a possibility, too.

After service

I took it to a Can-Am Dealer/Mechanic and they said they updated the system and everything should be fine. They said everything else checked out.

Code c0049 Brake failure

I had the brake failure flash a few times as well as the red parking brake light light up :hun: :yikes:. Scary thought for sure. Finally was able to get the codes via the mode set turn signal button. C0049...scared me :yikes:. Contacted BRP via email and was told to check the brake fluid. A "tad low", so need to refill I guess. Just wondering if the code will 'clear itself" or if there is a procedure to clear the codes.

The warning on your display will clear itself. The stored code in the Spyder can olny be cleared by the dealer via BUDS...but it does not hurt anything to leave it there.
