• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A Soldier's Spyder - Graphic Kit development by Spiralus Spyder

First I'd like to say I really like your theme, I would eventually like to make my Spyder in rememberence of WWII. All Olive drab color, with the White star and circle on the hood, and stencel lettering.
This is the combination I think works best with your graphics, keep the center of the hood black as in the 2nd choice, and the camo (or desert pattern) on the side panels as in the 1st choice. Use the "Army Strong" logo as in your 3rd choice. You may want to decrease the size of the Star to fit inside the center portion of the hood.( JUST A THOUGHT)
See if they'll make up some more samples before you go to print...
My background is art, 4 years at the Philadelphia College of Art

Thanks! Is this what you had in mind? Anyone?:chat:

The last one is much better. Smaller star is the way to go. Either camo or black would be my choice!! :spyder:

Exactly... check out making the front panel camo where the BRP badge is located ( we don't need no stink'n badges, put your rank where the badge goes), try a black and yellow pin strip border around the edges of the middle panel, surrounding the star, that will pick up the original Army logos border. That would be perfect!
I would choose from either of those choices... Let us know.

PS (don't forget the Star on your helmet)

Good luck,
Motza

I have a yellow :spyder:and was thinking about doing something with the Army theme because my son served for a little more then 10 years. I like the star and U.S. Army underneath, either Army Strong or Army of one would look great. I like to keep as much of the yellow showing as possible. Think about doing different class badges, he was a Staff Serggeant and I wanted to but them on the front fenders. I want to do an Army theme to the bike so anything in that arena would be cool, I think. Thank you for Serving our Country.

Dukester,

You might want to visit the Spiralus Spyder site. They did a graphics kit for a Marine that sounds like it would be close to what you want to do for your son. The chevrons on the fenders would be a nice touch! I've been in the Army since 1980, and I can say thank you from the bottom of my heart for raising a son that would choose to serve. The sergeants that I've worked with have made the Army the world class organization that it is today, and that excellence starts with their upbinging.
Best,

I think my boss would think me presumptuous if I were to wear a star on my helmet, as I'm certainly not a General...

I like the black one but i would not mind seeing the army strong logo on the camo just as is on the black one.

While I don't think the Army leadership will have any difficulty with this, the Army logo is not technically a government production. It is a contracted item produced by the McCann Erickson advertising agency. Note that it is indeed a registered trademark.

Yes, but the trademark is licensed to Department of the Army:

I don't know if it applies, but you may want to check out AR 672–8 (Manufacture, Sale, Wear, and Quality Control of Heraldic Items).

Thank you for the info. I'll check out Spiralus. I just would like to do something on my :spyder:in his honor. I'm so proud of him and all the soldiers, I just would like to honor him. He's now back in Iraq with L3 Communications for one more year. He order a 2010 Fat Bob Harley and we can't wait to go riding when he come home for good in March of 2010. I couldn't sell him on the Spyder. He's doing a Army theme on his bike when he get's in in June. Take care and thanks for the tip.

Joe,

I think you're referring to the Army theme, which does change yearly. This year's theme is "Year of the NCO". The Army Strong is the marketing tagline, which only changes when it loses it's effectiveness. This started when the Army went to a volunteer force in the 1970's. The slogan was "Be All That You Can Be" Which lasted until 1999, when the Army shifted to "An Army of One", which was not nearly as long-lived. We went to "Army Strong" in 2006, and it's one I really like. We'll probably stick with it for a while, as it's proving to be effective. The theme song is amazing!

You are correct, my fault.. Who are the two General officers in your picture? Major General Petraeus I think is one of the General officers but I can't picture the other one, and I am not really sure it Major General Petraeus... Help me out here if you can..

Joe

Still waiting to hear which one you went with? Which color? Spiralus Design is working on mine also, bee done soon. :spyder:

Still waiting to see his response to my first round, but I think the large star/black background is still my favorite, if Marc can solve the "Army Strong" positioning. Still waiting...
:ohyea:

:firstplace:You pegged (then) Major General Petraeus, and the other is Brigadier General Ben Freakley, who was the Assistant Division Commander for Maneuver. LTG Freakley now heads the Army's Accessions Command, which makes him my boss's boss.
