• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A.P.B. for BJT and DLTANG

They both have long busted Spyders, so I think visiting here saddens them a bit.
That was what I was wondering about:ani29:That is just way to long and feel sorry for them:ani29: Winter or not BRP better step up to the plate on this one :gaah:

They are being held HOSTAGE

There down in south america, the ransom demand is still to high, when it comes down enough. We will start a collection and get them back, Should be around late March, or early April:clap:

Yeah, they've been broken down for way too long. :( and they Ryde ALL YEAR! Mine is in the garage waiting until March. Too cold for me and the roads are all nasty now. It took some getting used to - going into my "winter habits" on the weekends now. It's always a transition.

I hope they get theirs fixed soon! Wonder what BRP is telling their dealer? Or are the parts there and the dealer has to rebuild?

Okay Everyone,
We are still alive and well and here is the skinny.

Yes it has been kind of hard to come on and read all the posts when I haven't been spydering around myself. Also, we have been pretty busy with work and all as well. As Scotty mentioned, I did pop on briefly to wish everyone a Merry Christmas though.

My Spyder has now been in the shop for just over 3 months. That is way too long. There have been a number of part deliveries that have held it up, the longest of which was waiting for a part from Austria to Canada then to the States. Well, now all the parts are here as of two weeks ago. I have spoken to the dealer twice since then and they are working on getting my engine back together. I will say, as happy as I have been with my dealer and service manager, I did let off a little steam when I spoke with them. I informed them that I have been waiting long enough and that the work on my engine should be at the front of the line. Snowmobile season has started here but I informed them that I ride year round and that there would be no reason to put me behind any snowmobile customer. So, I will call again on Monday to see what the prognosis and progress is. I understand this is way too long to have waited but there is nothing I can do about that now, so I am not going to make an issue about it. On the other hand, you can bet we will be on top of things when they take Brian's spyder apart. The saddest part about all of this, is that we had a very mild fall and early winter and I would have been riding all along.

Thanks for checking on us though. We are here to stay and not that easy to get rid of.

I'm really surprized they didn't opt for a new engine by now.

Your patience is admirable.

I didn't push for the new engine because I wanted to know what was wrong with this engine. I also thought if they took it apart and saw what was wrong as they went and replaced things as they found them, in the long run this would help other spyder owners. I know they could have sent it back and had it taken apart at BRP, but who knows how long that would have taken. Anyway, when I agreed to go this route, I never thought it would take this long. Yes I have been patient but that doesn't mean I'm not irritated. And as I mentioned, as much as I trust and like my dealer and service manager, I put some of the blame on them. Back ordered parts can be and are a big problem with BRP but now that I see how long the dealer is taking to put my engine back together, I just wonder how quickly the parts were discovered and ordered in the first place. I know due to the economy they had to lay someone off and I am sure that put a dent in their service. I don't want to go off on some rant, that is not what I am here for. What I do want is to have my spyder back and to be riding again and posting regularly about how great it was or how cold it was. I only want to complain about not being able to ride due to snow and extreme MI weather. And so far, in our area, we have been blessed, the weather has not been so extreme, I could be riding to work today. I will keep you all posted.

Also remember that the dealer doesn't make as much per hour on warranty work---- they have to go with what BRP has set to pay them - which I can guarantee is less than their posted '$80 an hour' or whatever they charge.

Good luck--- perhaps Brian will think about taking a different route on getting his fixed?

Hey Deb! Good to see you!

Well don't feel bad - I haven't been ryding either - I was all done right after I got my bike back from the dealer for the steering thing. I'm a wuss. I'll ride in 50 degree weather and I do have electric gear but after one ryde to NY for a Spyder Meet and Greet (that was unusually warm weather that day), it has been sitting in the garage. Between the weather and the holidays and life getting in the way, I haven't been ryding. I do not intend to ryde in this weather and sand and salt all over the roads. I cringe at my Charger getting dirty LOL!

So I basically wake up, go to work, come home, have a cocktail, eat dinner, jump on here, watch TV go to bed and REPEAT. Now the weekends in the winter consist of eating alot, shooting, hanging out w/ friends and I've been doing some minor home improvements. By March though, I'll be out again!

Give my best to BJT! I hope you get your Spyder back soon. Wish I could clone my dealer and send him out to ya - he's into it w/ the Spyder.

Just waiting to see when Brian kicks in. I think they have him really working hard at work lately. We aren't complaining, having any work at a GM facility right now is a blessing.
