• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A new tire I found & am buying it

Yes, Mike, I know that. But the website did NOT give me the option to state the tire I wanted without first entering Vehicle information. I couldn't get by that requirement....

If I ever hear of anyone having that issue here, I tell them to say it's for an Independently Constructed Kit Vehicle (therefore no brand name  ) running 15" 'J' type Auto rims.

missouriboy, I ordered my tire from tirerack two days ago. The on-line web site gives you the OPTION to identify the vehicle you are going to put it on ....OR .... to DECLINE giving that info....... when I finished filling out the purchase order ...... it actually stated " buyer DECLINED to include vehicle information " ..... I think they add this to limit any responsibility for the Size & Type of tire I bought ...... Mike

Curious to know how this tire works. Looking to replace my Kumho, got twice the mileage out of it as the factory Kenda, but wasn’t the greatest. Want something between it and the Altimax. The Altimax had too good of grip on grooved roads and wanted to follow them.

Well it arrived last night at 8:30 PM from UPS ( they don't stop delivering until the truck is empty ) ..... I was surprised to discover this tire has ... 5 ... tread ply's ... 2 Poly , 2 Steel & 1 Nylon .... with 2 poly sidewall plies .... The Utog is 520 so I'll see how long it lasts in a few yrs. ../... Mike

Mike , do you believe the new tire will be sticky enough? 520 seems to be a pretty hard compound.

520 is on the high side, however that isn't always the case for poor traction.... A few years back a Michelien tire also had a Utog that looked high but the tire had excellent WET traction .... and the ratings numbers ( 3 of 4 ) for this Riken are actually slightly better the RT43. ... I've seen folks here who have tires with a Utog of 800 +, and they seem to like them. Time will tell ....From experience all tires lose a lot of wet traction when they wear close to the wear bars, the DRY traction really won't be affected by Wear. Remember the highest traction is provide by a DRY SLICK tire .. Mike

Just ordered the Riken on tire rack. I clicked a button that said I don't want to identify my vehicle. I'll be $108 shipped to my home.

Good for you, that's the way I learned to do it years ago.... A few folks here have bought it also .... I guess we are going to be the TEST mules for these ....... Keep us informed about how it performs .... PS, I have the REAR tire and only plan to use 18-19 psi ..... Mike

Thanks, I'll hunt for that button the next time I try. I didn't see it before.

My Michelin isn't really worn out yet, it still has as much rubber above the wear bars as there is below the bars, and all the rain sipes are still fully evident. But my inspection and renewal is in July, so I thought I'd get ahead of that.

With supply issues being what they are now ..... that's a good idea ..... Mike

I just bought a pair of tires from tire rack here in tucson. There was no problem getting them installed by them due to the rims being j rims. The manager stated there would not be a problem as long as they were j type rims. He did tell me they would not do the rear due to the amount of work,
