• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A Message for the Moderators

I personally feel that legitimate complaints about real issues with BRP, its dealers and products and policies AS THEY AFFECT THE WRITER are or can be, useful.

What gets my dander up is when the writer then draws unfounded conclusions about the likely cause of the issue being complained about and then denigrates management, engineering, or some other group (or even the occupant of the White House).

I guess I should avail myself of the ignore button, rather than push back against the obliviator (which invariably gets me in trouble). But then I would miss out on some interesting stuff.

Oh my, it ain't perfect but I think the benefits of being on this forum outweigh the negatives.

I have learned a lot from this site If you don't like it leave who cares the site will continue without you so don't threaten

I don't agree. This is a discussion forum. Why not have a discussion about the forum itself? If it bothers you, well ....

Didnt bother me in the least, You missed the point of the comment completely. Not worth continuing on with.......

Since I have been on this site, I have found this site helpful.

I have even helped other spyder owners on this site, by posting/starting threads for the spyder owners that are on this site( the threads that I have started have some very excellent information on them, and of you folks know which thread that is. I am not on this as much because "Life has gotten in the way", I do check the site when I can).

Also, to each his own.

The above is my 2 cents.

Deanna

I have been on this site since the fall of 2012. I have seen some really smart people leave because of some disagreements. This site has helped me out alot. I hope I have been able to help others out, especially on the V-Twins. This site, like many others have posters come and go. I will be staying. I have pretty thick skin. Not much bothers me. As the old saying goes" Sticks and stones can break your bones but words can not hurt you"..... Bruce

Seems bad that someone would start a post complaining about people complaining. As long as it is spyder related, I am good with it. I have been here for quite some time, and have owned 6 spyders. I am glad that everyone is here and treasure input from everyone. Whether it is positive or negative, of if I agree or not. But if someone is unsatisfied with the forum, all I can say is bye. Hope you find what you are looking for. All is good and no hard feelings either way. I joined a year before buying a spyder and the positives and negatives helped me make my decision. All is good either way.

All good comments along the way and although I also feel that we tend to complain too much these days but I try to remember three "truisms" from my working days.

1. Change is inevitable 2. Flexibility is the key to survival 3. Communication is always good.

Even if I may not agree or even like others opinion I can gain information to make decisions and process as I wish.

I have participated on Honda, Harley, and tractor forums and still toss in my 2 cents and enjoy this Spyderlovers forum over the years and find it less abrasive than most. Thanks Moderators!

I disagree with that sentiment. It's American not to accept what we are given, but rather to point out deficiencies in the offering in the hope of making a difference.

Arriving back from my week Bancation, I read through the original post, and all replies. Interesting perspectives from a varied audience. Hopefully BigBadBruce the original person that started the topic will find his best answer. Without doubt, there are a multitude of other Spyder groups out there on the internet if Spyderlovers.com is in your past. As others mentioned, many folks have left, which may have degraded the replies, but maybe not. Certainly many of the high end technical replies have diminished, often now, replies are about newby stuff, but whatever, as the other guy stated, change is inevitable. BigBadBruce all the best sorting this out.

IMO, one big reason for that is the variety of technical issues plaguing Spyders and Rykers has greatly diminished over the years. In one sense you could say there's nothing left to talk about so why stay? Of course that's not the case, yet, but I think it is a factor. I've often thought about leaving the forum the past couple of years because so much of the technical discussion that does take place is related to a generation of Spyders I'm not intimately familiar with. But curiosity keeps me here, for now anyway. And I'm just egotistical enough to think that occasionally I can share good advice.

Oh, and BTW PMK, I'm glad to see you back!

Peter, A.R.Traveller, Anthony and to the others. When I first joined this site, it truly was, as the name suggested, SPYDERLOVERS. Reading half of the current posts, it appears to be either SPYDERHATER, or at least SPYDER COMPLAINERS. I’m not singling out any single or group of members......I’ll leave that to you, but as for myself, I’ll give the site until the end of December, and if this trend continues, I’ll leave the site. I’m just finding this trend to be too much of a “downer” when it should be uplifting. I like my Spyder too much to continue with this “CRAP”.

Overly sensitive, aren't we now? When I read complaints it gives me ideas on what might become a problem for me in the future. I like the forum just the way it is.

Not at all. It's a matter of expectations. You're fairly new to the Forum. You may not have gotten tired of forum hijinks yet. In the past, some members have been banned for their "less than friendly" posts.
I come to the forum looking for help in solving problems.
For instance, I'm interested in better tires for my Spyder and would like to know what's available (please, no one should hijack this into a tire thread). We already know the Kenda tires are not the best. Reading posts that continuously complain about the Crapenda OEM tires does little to advance the discussion to a solution. In fact, reading all the posts about the poor quality of the OEM tires just gets wearisome. It harshes my mellow, if you know what I mean. I much prefer posts that offer a solution to the problem, or at least state a problem and ask the group if a solution is available.
And on a practical note, when someone starts a thread complaining about a particular feature or issue, SOMEONE may have actually come up with a solution, but if it's buried at post #248 in the thread surrounded by a bunch of whining posts, few people will take the time to actually read it.
A likely example right here:
You most likely read the first post and then responded to it, with the result that your post is number 53 on page three of the thread.
bigbadbrucie has resolved his issues at post 27 on page 2. (breaking my arm patting myself on the back).
Maybe nobody noticed it ?

Oh, and vito1943, one final comment: Thank you so very much for your service !

Just my opinion, I could be wrong, If I am, I'm certain, someone on this forum will be delighted to point it out.

Wow, I should have started a thread like this but I would have been booted. Lol I can list several things that have changed here in 8-10 years and why I don’t come here much anymore, but powers that be wouldn’t like it. I use to have almost 50K post but deleted most due to overly sensitive people. It would be nice to get back to the friendliness.

The thread, as it has run, has no problems with the site rules. No...you would have not been booted. Only when someone breaks the rules does it happen.

Moderators,
Please delete me from this site. I do not want to be here.
Thank you,
Vincent Santamaria

The only reason you are “here” is because you have chosen to log in and post, Vincent. If you didn’t log in and post you would not be “here” :2thumbs:
