• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A little heads up on the software upgrade

Had my:spyder:done today and there is a definate improvement..
The steering is easier as well as smoother. Seems to run a little cooler
in general as well.:dontknow:

Did mine today.Did it with the guys.It takes 10min to do.it also has a guage update it does.Steering much better now.

I had mine done this morning. Haven't had much of a test yet, only the ride home. Couldn't tell much difference, maybe a little easier shifting (SM5), but I don't think I had a problem before. Luckily everything is still working fine. Took them about 1/2 hour.

Will be going on a longer ride on Sunday, so will be able to tell more then.

Got mine done today as well. Noticed the difference on the first turn out of the parking lot. I think the steering is significantly better.

Already GotRdone :thumbup:did not know or was told about the other stuff:hun: just that they had there laptop pluged in but I think they did 400 or so and no issues since upgrade :2thumbs:

I (pinkwidow1941) also had my steering taken care of last week. They did all the recalls for the brakes. I am wondering if anyone has had any strange experiences since having it done. Here is what I am now experiencing.

Since having the steering reprogrammed my bike now fluctuates when holding the throttle at one speed. It will surge and then die down. My speed remains the same but it sounds almost like I am geared to high for the speed I am at? It never did that before. I did a test, when it would happen I would down shift to see if that made a difference. No go. The other really strange issue is when I am down shifting into first gear I get an error code on my display. It first will tell me that I am in neutral, then first gear and then it will flash E6. I know that I am in first gear. You can hear it go in. At one stop the display said I was in neutral, but when I tried to kick it down into first it was already in first gear. When I started up the display said I was in first gear but it was actually in neutral??? It did it at every stop. It was not a one time deal. I was worried if I would make it home.

I called my dealer and the technician is checking into it and going to call me in the morning. It never did this prior to the reprogramming. Any ideas??? Has anyone else had any trouble since have it done? HELP! I want my ride back!! :dontknow:

I also had the surge issue...but no error codes at any time. I disconnected the battery and let stand for 20+ minutes. Reconnect and took a ride.. Surge almost gone, just a little, however I do believe BRP is aware of the surge and will be giving us another update. Lets hope so..

I got to ride around town for the first time since updating today and I have to say, no question, there is a marked improvement in the steering.

Thanks for the heads up Lamont. My spyder is in the shop anyway so I asked them to do the download also. I am hoping to get it back tomorrow with a loaner seat until the new comfy seat shows up.

quackerz

I took mine in today for the DPS fix. I asked them to do the GPS upgrade also. The Service Advisor said he'd write the Work Order but the Service Manager would have to OK it. I haven't heard back yet ?? The Coil Pack fix parts are backordered here too. But, that's an easy do-it-yourself project.

Thanks for the info Lamont.

Tripod :joke:

software update

I went to the dearler, Bradford Marine, here in Littel Rock the day after the fact that the dealers had the upgrade.:ohyea: I didn't even have to ask for it. The tech., Ryan, told me to pull my Spyder onto the showroom floor; and he did his thing.

Got the recall done today, can't say there is a major change. The steering does seem a little easier but I have the 4" risers so not a great change. I was told they also did the ECM and Cluster update. Not sure what those changes are. I mean I know what the ECM is and the Cluster he said was the Guage module but I don't know what changes were input. I have never had an error message or problem with the Gauges :spyder:

Am presently on a riverboat in Germany headed for Budapest. Have complete internet service in my cabin so can keep up with what's happening in spyderLovers Land. Will have the steering recal done when I get home. Right now I think I'll have another white wine.

Sounds like a nice trip. Have fun. :ohyea:

Had my 3k service on Thursday including the S/W update. Steering does feel a bit less 'twitchy' around center now. I also immediately noticed that that idle now stays much closer to fixed - not as much hunting around center. I'll be on a long ride Sunday and will look for the mileage improvement.

So far so good!

just got to ride on the longest trip since my upgrade and the steering does seem a little easier. Not much difference, but I think I can tell.

Got my spyder back today. What I notice was the shifting being a little smoother; but, I have an SM5 and not sure how that could be.

I took the same road back from the dealer that I have taken before. It's about 1 1/2 hrs. and steering seemed a little better with increased speed through the twisties. Of course I don't go as fast as most of you do.

As far as gas mileage goes, I'll never know if it is better. It's one of those things I never check.

Oh, and best of all, I like the look of the new shock cams that were installed.
