There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

One of the steps on the left shock cam was rounded off after I adjusted the cam. The owner's manual did not say the spyder needed to be jacked up. There were others who did the same and rounded a step or broke the cam.
I contacted Carlo at BRP. My dealer was contacted and I had the choice to have the stock cams replaced with the same stock cams with no charge or upgrade and the labor was free and pay for the cams. I chose the upgraded cams.
I only mentioned it in my previous post because I had the spyder in for service and had the software upgrade and the cams installed at the same time.

I just had the recall remappng done, and I have had results similar to some accounts that I've read here. I would say that the steering is probably improved, but the update apparently also involved remapping of the fuel injection, and I'm not so happy with that. My Spyder ran great before the remap, with the exception being that it had become hard to start (unless you blipped the throttle just right). Now, after the remap and new plugs, it's still hard to start. It runs fine when I'm on the throttle, but it is kinda rough when cruising with steady, minimal throttle (which was not a problem prior to the remap). I'd guess they've leaned the mixture out a bit. Hmmmm.

Patience.... is what I am told.. BRP will fix their software for the surge.
However, it you disconnect the battery and leave disconnected for approx 20 minutes, That should improve the surge big time... It did for me, although it is still there but not so noticeable.
I am taking my Spyder in Tuesday for service maintenance, update on steering and installation of the ISCI hand brake. I have the NMN 4" risers and notice that Lamont also has what appears to be the same with a handbrake. I have their footboards on now and they will be sending me a different brake pedal for use with the handbrake. Anxious to see what difference these will make.

I agree, I think the battery disconnect may help with the backfiring too. When disconnected my battery when it was stalling and backfiring, that really helped. Now it is backfiring again since my software update. I may disconnect it again and see if that helps. I'll keep you posted.
Got my letter last week and have the Spyder booked in to ProRider in Sydney on Wed. So you should hear something soon.

After my software update, I noticed all of the above to be true. My Spyder runs a lot better at cold startup and noticeably better (to some extent) at all times. My shifting seems better for some reason though I'm not sure how software can change the feel of a manual transmission shifting. :dontknow: Finally, the steering feels better but its hard for me to gauge how much better after riding without a working DPS for just over a week.

Got the steering recall and 3K service done on Friday. I also noticed on the very first turn out of the dealer that steering effort was a lot less than it used to be. Haven't put a lot of miles on it yet but overall, the steering seems to be much better.
The only downside is riding for the last year with the steering taking more effort, I was actually building up some muscles in my upper arms. I may ask the dealer to back out the software update so I can maintain the "guns" :roflblack:

Nice...A hotfix on the power steering causes problems with the engine control / fuel mapping. I don't have time to visit my dealer every other week. My power steering's been working flawlessly since the dealer replaced my GPS - so from my perspective it ain't broke (so why fix it).
as I watched there were fixes for DPS, ECU, Cluster, and key security.
There was one other that I didn't catch
You mean DPS not GPS right?

I think he does mean GPs The gear position sensor that is common to fail did cause a fair amount of issues with the dynamic power steering.

Forrest, did your mpg improve following the patch(s), and if it did, what happened AFTER you disconnected the battery for 20 minutes?
