• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A little heads up on the software upgrade

Software upgrade done here in New Zealand

Had my software upgrade the other day and hopefully this will improve many items mentioned by other posts.

One interesting new event did occur last weekend on a long ride. My engine light came on at 95km/hr and check transmission message also scrolled across screen. I have 7500kms on the speedo since getting Spyder in Nov/08.

During the upgrade, there were a few hiccups with some new errors showing but after a few tweaks with the software, all should be ok.

Waiting for weather to break since it is winter now and need to verify all is better working than before upgrade

As always Lamont has GREAT info... Question: I have search the threats for the Grounding Strap Bulletin and have found nothing, I'm sure its me however,, does anyone have that bulletin they can share with me please?
Thanks in advance
Joe

My dealership just called me about the grounding wires. They are back-ordered and they don't know when they will get them in.

They could make them in 5 minutes, 27" and 5" length wires with lugs crimped and soldered on each end. If you were closer, I'd create them and install them for you. That applies to anyone in the Northwest Arkansas area who can't get their dealer to do it.

Thanks Lamont. Had mine done last Friday. I agree with your analysis. Steering and shifting is improved on my SE5. The increased file mileage will be a nice improvement!

Waiting on my dealer to get the BRP grounding wires in stock so that I can schedule an appointment to have it taken care of.

Just came back from getting mine done. The shifting seems a bit smoother as well as the steering. The steering to me seems sharper and seems to react quicker when steering. I had another guy in there and he was having issues starting his bike, or his bike would just die on him. They couldn't replicate the problem. The whole shop was trying to figure out what he was or was not doing. Even to the point of having him start and restart several times. Oh well. They will figure it out. On a side note, the shop and the other spyder owners love the looks of the CHAD windshield. He has the new BRP windshield and hates it. So I gave them the address to here and told him and the shop manager to sign on and sign up.

I had scheduled to take my baby in this Saturday for the 12K / 15K service. When I called to reschedule for the 8th the service guy at the dealer was relieved. I'm guessing they are really busy with recall work. I'll be having mine done while it's in for service.

Thanks for the update. Having mine done this Saturday. Will share your idea about the computer and battery with the service manager.

recall

I took mine in yesterday and I was their for 4 hours. On my way home it was running like crap and making a weird noise so I have to take it back to the dealer on Tuesday. They must off did something wrong. Well I was there another guy came in with his spyder and left at the same time as me. He was there for an half in hour. :(

Got mine done today. Seems to turn easier and shift smoother. I asked about the ground wires and the tech said they didn't have them and on order. He also said it I hadn't had any issues he recommended to leave it alone. :dontknow:

you know now that yall mention it. I thought it rode different but thought it was just in my head. Thanks for the insight yall

Not to rain on anyone's parade but an acquaintance of mine tryed to have the patch done Tuesday and it wouldn't take,so they tryed to reinstall the old software with the same result.Dealer called BRP and was told that there had been 6 bikes to date where this occurred.Dealer had it up and going by thursday after replacing I believe was the steering rack[:dontknow:$1100.part]which had shown no signs of being a problem before the patch.Hopefully this is a very small occurence to bikes that had unknown problem before the update.

I (pinkwidow1941) also had my steering taken care of last week. They did all the recalls for the brakes. I am wondering if anyone has had any strange experiences since having it done. Here is what I am now experiencing.

Since having the steering reprogrammed my bike now fluctuates when holding the throttle at one speed. It will surge and then die down. My speed remains the same but it sounds almost like I am geared to high for the speed I am at? It never did that before. I did a test, when it would happen I would down shift to see if that made a difference. No go. The other really strange issue is when I am down shifting into first gear I get an error code on my display. It first will tell me that I am in neutral, then first gear and then it will flash E6. I know that I am in first gear. You can hear it go in. At one stop the display said I was in neutral, but when I tried to kick it down into first it was already in first gear. When I started up the display said I was in first gear but it was actually in neutral??? It did it at every stop. It was not a one time deal. I was worried if I would make it home.

I called my dealer and the technician is checking into it and going to call me in the morning. It never did this prior to the reprogramming. Any ideas??? Has anyone else had any trouble since have it done? HELP! I want my ride back!! :dontknow:

Sounds like the infamous Gear Position Sensor. This can get noisy and affect the fuel mixture, among other things. I think this software update is exposing a few marginal components (on a few machines) which might have previously been masked by some dampening effects of the programming. Just a guess.
