• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A little heads up on the software upgrade

I got some info that I thought I would share with you all.

First off you really need to get this done even if you don't feel like you have any issues. It's more than just a steering fix.

When you bring it to the dealer it's a really good idea that they plug in their laptop to power and not run off the battery and they put your Spyder on a charger to make sure it has a good full charge. I would say the plugged in laptop is the most important thing.

What has happened is in the middle of the download the laptop will go dead and that will crash the software in your cluster. Then they have to load the old software and then reinstall the new software. Plugging in the laptop will save your dealer from that grief.

The upgrade will/should make your Spyder run a little better and your cold weather starts should be improved also. There is a fuel processor update in this patch. You "may" even get a little better gas mileage.

There were some tweaks that should make it shift a little better but you may or may not notice that.

The main thing is the steering should improve across the board. They really wanted to release this sooner but they took the time and addressed some other areas while they were at it. Now make your appointment and get it done. :doorag:

We are still in the dark down here on Oz.
No one has heard a word from BRP as far as I know :dontknow:

Thanks for sharing that info with us, got it on my TO-DO list. I have no steering issues, but having it done anyway. Just need to get another 100 miles on my spyder, and I will be ready for my first service, and my 4" riser install. Thanks again

Will do as soon as we get home. Hopefully smooth sailing from here to there. The rain has not been bad...usually before or after us is the worst...we just get light showers, except for Nova Scotia!
Once again, thank you for keeping all of us in the loop.

Just Had Mine Done...

It took about 25 minutes and that was with the tech taking it out for a spin afterwards. I had not had any steering problems, but agree with Lamont on the shifting improvements. At first I thought it was just in my head, but I noticed that my SE5 down shifts much smoother from 2nd to 1st when I am coming to a stop.

now all I have to get is the recall for the grounding wire.

:spyder:

I wholeheardly agree Lamont. My bike runs better all around for all the reasons you mentioned. Go get it done if you haven't already.

My appointment is tomorrow along with the 3,000 mile checkup. I haven't noticed any steering issues, but the feedback here from others on how much better it will be makes me glad I read SyderLovers

Lamonster...right on top...as usual.

Had the upgrade/fix last Saturday. Rode 300 miles and it's a nice improvement. I never really had steering issues other than exceeding the limits during an early morning dragon run a month ago. :ohyea:

Man thats good to here about all the little bonus's from the dps update. And THANK YOU Lamonster for the info.:2thumbs:

Got appointment for Tuesday. Will try to get the coil ground wire done too.
Thank you Lamont, you're the man:bowdown:

Please let us know if you ever come to Texas. We'll treat you like a rock- star despite your t-shirt.

Thanks Lamont
I had AAA take :spyder:to dealer yesterday because it will not shift. Dealer first impression is it may be just a spring. If that is true I am going to start buying lottery tickets! Anyway while at the dealer they will do the dps update. I'll post what the shifting problem is when I hear from the dealer. They won't even get to it till Friday at the earliest:(.
