GOT A BRIGHT IDEA ...

I have to share this cool idea I came up with after going into Home Depot
I bought a pair of Silver Sylvania "Dot It" Leds, and placed one on each off the centers of the front rims. Tapped each one to turn on, and test drove it this evening with no problems what so ever. Now your even visable from the side for $7.99 and wireless. I'm going to add one in the trunk as well

Not legal in most states to have rotating lights.

GlowRyder makes some really cool things like this - but again - could be illegal in many states.

No rotation, this is centered on the "Y" emblem on the rim and looks like one LED as the tires rotate.
Not to bright, but very noticeable and legal in every state in the union.

Not comparing my idea to any quality product from GlowRyder, just something different that doesn't cost a bundle.

NOT LEGAL in every state...I think the wording in Maryland is that you can't have anything on the tires at all...this dumb legislature ruins all the fun!

Made of plastic, Haven't had one fly off yet? Have you?...
Used it for a 2 hour ride not a problem..

Not sure that you can really state that it's 'legal in every state in the union' unless you've checked every possible ordinance. Somewhere you'll find a cop that will pull you over and ticket you . A prime example of this is those that have added lights to the sway bars - in addition to the headlights and foglights - so they have 6 forward lights. Not legal in Michigan. Also, unless perfectly centered it may appear to rotate from a distance.

I originally thought the GlowRyders would be really cool - until I started reading more lighting code and decided it wasn't worth the risk for me to put something on the Spyder they might get me pulled over.

Good luck with your setup--- I for sure wouldn't run any colors there.

Nice...on one of the other threads recently, someone posted a link to a list of ALL the states' laws regarding lights on motorcycles...didn't believe such a list existed until I saw it myself...

I think the trunk light is a great idea, it can be a pain trying to hold the switch on the handlebars and dig thru the trunk.

Keep us updated and let us know how the lights on the wheels hold up and hold on in rain and humidity.

I'm pretty sure that you can have side marker lights in every state of the union.
But that would mean yellow up front and red at the back.
So if the Sylvania dots came in yellow you might get away with it.
All in all it would be better to find a way to put lights where the reflectors are.

After I installed them I went on the "Sylvania Dot It" web site and noticed they do offer a weather/ waterproof version...of course I'll be ordering them.
