There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. A-Arm Grease

Hi All

I Was at the Totronto Motorcycle show yesterday and they had a naked 2014 RT Spyder :opps: I had a pretty good look at it and I couldn't find any grease fittings on the A-Arms :dontknow: Did I miss something, will the bushings wear out quicker ? I also noticed that the air box will have to come off if you have any hope of getting at the plugs .

My reaction was just the opposite when I had all the tupperware off my 2013 RT and saw grease zerks on the suspension. What???  Grease zerks haven't been used on cars for 30 years! What are they doing on a 21st century motorcycle??????:banghead:

No grease for 2014

2013 and 2014 front suspension assemblies.
There appears to be confusion. 2013 on left. 2014 on right.

I wonder if those new bushings will work in my 2013????

I'd like to know if they're any other zerks to look for? Do they require a special grease type?

Unless the 2014 have changed, all years and models have 8 zerks total on the inside "A" Arms. Any good quality grease from the auto store will work. You will also need to get a 90 degree end for your grease gun to reach the fittings. (I ordered one from Autozone) If you do some searching on this site you will find many threads on greasing these fittings, most of them describing the difficulty of the job. :yikes:

is this a planned/unplanned obsolence thing? sealed is good i guess.. if it's done right.. yet.. eventually sealed / unsealed will have to be replaced,, to me , it seems, factory sealed will go out quicker and then extra dollars..to replace.. but what do I know?:dontknow:

No longer on the maintenance schedule for 2014 so I can assume they are no longer there.

It a different type of bushing as it's listed in BRP parts list and most likely sealed unit. I have a 2011 RS-S that I lube and inspect the rubber on my front bushings every oil change, no big deal.

I know it's a different bushing as I said in post 8. I too grease the a-arm bushings every oil change and they suck to do. When I traded off the 09 they needed to be replaced. So the old bushings (cushions as BRP calls them) don't last long even with lots of grease.

Sealed suspension bushings on cars last a lot more miles than 95% of Spyders will ever be ridden!:)

bushings

looking at the pictures showing the difference in 2013 and 2014

the bushings on the 2013 are a there piece like all the older ones use

the 2014 are a one piece unit looks like they made a change

I wonder if its an upgradeable bushing set we can add to older bikes

ok ... clear.
will wear my glasses sequel .. sorry!, did not look good.
it would be a good solution, .. the zerks is hard to come by

There are no grease zerks on the 2014 suspension.

Yippee ... they were really a pain to service on my 2011 RT-S.
