622 trailer tongue stand

The only problem with the bucket is it takes up too much space in the trailer. Sometimes you want to unhitch when you are on the road and I just don't have room for a bucket.

Good point. On a boat you ALWAYS carry a bucket!
It is well said that a man (or woman) bailing water with a bucket is faster than any pump

I don't have a trailer yet myself so I will bow to wisdom :thumbup:

Karyl, no need to get yourself a man, remove the dumb buttons and replace them with a D-ring. Now deploying the stand is a one woman operation.

I love the BRP stand and we have them on both of our trailers.... BUT.

The release buttons that allow the stand to swing away and release from the trailer hitch bar are very hard to work. Buttons on both sides have to be fully pushed in simultaneously to release the bar and trying to do that while pulling the stand out at the same time as you are lifting the trailer hitch off of the ball requires a minimum of three appendages. Unfortunately I have only two that work well and usually when I am unhitching the trailers my wife is nowhere to be found.

The same is true when trying to connect the trailer although it is a bit easer because you can rest the trailer hitch on the Spyder while you try to pull the stand away from the hitch bar.

I think this is a bit over engineered as one button would have been sufficient.

When we got home from our trip, I bought a hitch pin from my dealer ($3.98), drilled out the stand and tongue, & got rid of the buttons. Works like a champ & took all of 5 minutes. I had solved the "three appendage" situation by using a knee to hold up the trailer while pushing in the buttons. But after reading SpyderAnn and OldGuyinCT's comments I need to do another run to the hardware store.

My button fell off also which led me to the D-ring, but we didn't need to drill anything. If you get underneath and squeeze the spring you can remove the buttons. I don't know what the diameter of the d-ring is though.

I have the BRP stand and verrrry seldom use it as it is a 2 man operation and most times I'm missing the second man!!! :roflblack: Sooo don't use and would put good set of chocks(found rocks scarce..)as a priority over the stand...:clap:

If you've got cold Beer I know you can get a second man anytime.:joke:

Modifying the trailer stand is next on my list, I can't believe that BRP could design such a fantastic bike and trailer than engineer that rediculas contraption of a stand.
