• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

600 vs 900 CVT

Does anyone know if the 600 and 900 use the same CVT variatior setup; springs, weights, clutches? In one post about the 600 the owner reported 5,900-6,100 RPM at 60 MPH and 6,500 RPM at 75 MPH (two up). Others have posted 5540 RPM at 60 MPH and 6,380 at 75 MPH with the 900 (load not specified). That is not much difference in RPM and may be load related. It seems like the 900 CVT could be tuned to take advantage of the greater torque.

I'm sure the clutches are the same (and most likely right off the snowmobile). Mostly likely the springs, weights and helix are different for the 600 and 900. They should be tuned for each engines power and torque curve. The fact people are reporting about the same RPM vs speed for both the 900 and 600 would say to me they are clutched different.

Its very possible the aftermarket will offer clutch kits (different weights, springs and helixes) to offer riders different uses of the engines "power"? They do with sleds. For example you could have a clutch setup that offers better low end acceleration but sacrifices top speed.

Yup! Same clutches: different calibration goodies... :D
BRP CVT set-ups have always been both tunable, and bulletproof!

I could go for an overdrive gear added to the gearbox for lower engine RPM and better MPG for interstate cruising. The 900 could easily pull a taller gear. I'd still want the low range for local trips though.

maybe they offer different gears für the driveshaft - I had this on my old BMWs - you could decide to take the Touring or Sport version for it ..
