I just got home from picking up my 2012 RT-S SE5 from my dealer after it's 600 mile (880 miles) service. I dropped it off last night and picked it up on the way home. I was able to get the 600 mile service included for free with the purchase ($262.50 was on the initial invoice tonight, which they corrected). They had given me the two filters and 4 quarts of oil at the delivery of the Spyder. I read this week about the new filters and thought oh well I'll just get them next time and did not say anything to the dealer about it.
When I went there today, the Tech was just finishing up and had only to test ride it and recheck the oil level. I was sitting on the tailgate of my pickup truck as he drove by. He stopped and asked if I was the one waiting for this bike. I told him I was. He then told me that BRP had just notified them this week about the new filters and they had gotten some in and he went ahead and put them on my Spyder and returned the old style to stock. I thanked him, told him I knew about the new ones from this site.
When he brought back the bike after the test ride and oil level check, he took about 15 minutes talking to me about the 2012 Spyder RTs. How certain things worked. How things had improved with them. We talked about the DSS, the Kenda tires and the SE5 and SM5. Said he is a RS type guy, likes the more aggressive riding style and slightly better HP of the RS. He's been there awhile, I know he was in the Service department when I owned my '99 Goldwing SE.
I had a very good experience there today. I usually dread any service appointment, bike, car or personal.
