600 MILE SERVICE TODAY

As most know of my purchase of a new 2012 RT Limited, only a couple of weeks ago I took delivery of a problem Roadster, the dealership offered my money back or a new one that came in last Wednesday. I am happy to say that I opted for the new one and just did my 600 mile service. The bike runs wonderfully and I noticed a difference as soon as I pulled off the lot. This one just feels right, temp gauge stays on the lower side instead of right under hot, no dying at stops, no dead stereo, no won't start issues... I really enjoy this one!

My first one is still in the shop, they are ordering a complete wiring harness... Just not 100% sure what the problems are and they have been working with BRP from day one. I have been on the Automotive side for years and this stuff just happens to every make and model for every manufacture. I have seen customers with a huge service file of problems and the next customer with the same vehicle not one failure of any kind. I have worked through repeat repairs, buy-backs, Arbitration, Lemon law cases and here to say, problems just exist.

I am just blessed to have a good dealer that got me taken care of appropriately without hesitation and my opinion, unequivocally is that there are great dealers that care and so does BRP. If you think back to the 'Flagship' Goldwing in 2001, they did there usual 10 year upgrade on a makeover and man it was ugly, cracked frames, overheating issues just to mention a couple and today there are a few hundred blowing transmissions and there is those that all they need is an oil change and go for 200+ thousand miles.

After 40 years of riding motorcycles if I thought that the Spyder was not a absolute great product then I would have certainly not taken the second one. The encouragement from this forum was and is a big help, we have a unique awesome product, BRP still has a little work to do, and I can live with that in order to own one of these fine machines.

May I ask what dealership you took your Spyder to. I am from the Nashville area and bought mine at American Motorsports in Nashville. I thought there salesperson was AWESOME, and I thought there Madison dealership was terrible at selling. But I have not been happy with the Nashville dealership with service at all! I was told by others that their Madison dealership is better. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Yes Missy is the Service Manager in Madison on Myatt Dr. Kevin is the Can-Am Tech, Tell Missy Charles Smith sent you! The service is good...

Great story!!!....There are good dealerships and service departments out there..They are made great by the people who work at them...This dealership and others like Cowtown set the bar higher for the rest of them...We all need to do more to get the good dealerships names out there and give credit where credit is due...Maybe the rest will see what they are missing!!!

I've been in the auto industry for 27 years, myself. Pontiac had some really weird issues when we put out the Solstice. Some were problem free, and some might as well have been possessed! I found a couple of issues with ours after we got home with it. I took it back to the original dealer and they sent me some of the easy to replace parts by mail. We've had our RTS 2011 since July of, and I have about 3,300 mi. on it. We have a very reputable dealership just across the MO. line called Ted's. That's where we purchased our Spyder. I have nothing bad to say about them, but after a few conversations with Len at Cowtown, which is twice as far away from me than Ted's, Cowtown is where I'll be getting a lot of my work done.

See you all in April!

So you lived here years ago and you are stating the dealer has a bad reputation. I have been here 27 years, this is my second purchase from that location, they have treated me extremely well, I still live in Nashville, the dealer has three locations and sold over 100 Spyders last year. Have they made 100% of everyone happy, I am sure that have not because that is impossible. Do they have a bad reputation, I guess that's a matter of one's opinion.

Missy the Service Manager does most of the demos for BRP, she and Kevin their BRP Technician has been over the top helpful... A Service Manager at a Memphis Spyder location was talking about how great the service department there was.

Please let the people that live and work here decide who the good and bad dealers are in Nashville. I am sure there is negativity to be found at every dealership in Flordia if one looks for it.

Chazzman, thanks for the feedback, I have recently had some issues with a service department I visited, so I might be up to Nashville for the next time I need assistance!

Very glad to hear that you got your issues resolved and are a Happy Ryder.. I got my 600 mile maintenance today, after 800 miles (couldn't get there any quicker).. The 2012 RT Limited has performed beyond my best expectations and I am having fun riding it every day.. My Florida dealer, Central florida Powersports, did a great job on initial set up and testing and the bike has run without a hitch.

That's great Doc, glad to hear we have some good running RT Limited's out there, mine included. You are right about the power, when you get up into the 6+ range she comes alive. I do not know where the power band is yet but I would say in the 7-8K RPM range.

I took delivery of my new 2012 RT todays at 12:45pm. I only have 25 miles on it but noticed the heat gague was up well beyond what I consider a good operating range, it was just under HOT. I hope this isn't a sign of future trouble as described earlier!

Don't panic, this is not a sign of the major no start issue that I experienced... On my current Ryde the gauge stays low, but there are inaccuracy in the gauges as well. I will let someone else with more Spyder experience chime in but you are probably OK. I would check with my dealer tomorrow to get their response.
