I'm in the process of purchasing an RT, The dealer is really trying to push me into a 2013, but I'm hesitant due to possible heat issues, Valve adjustments needed in time and then he tells me the 600 mile check up will cost me around 400-600 dollars based on what they need to adjust , fix and update... Its a good dealer but they don't like to move off of the set prices.
I would have bought the Base 14 RT but I can't get them to come down from 24,499 to 22,499... Its just in my price point and frankly they don't seem to care....ughhhh.
I've been also talking to Bluenight. He traveled to buy his and I would to but I have a trade. so it's a little more difficult.

So is it 2014 RT for 24,999?
or is it 2013 RT-S for 23,999?

Heeeeeeelllllllpppppppppppp :banghead::banghead::banghead:

My 1st service was $250. 400to 600 seems freaken high!

My 600 mile service

was $242.73 to be exact. I also think his price for a left over 13 RTS is too high and his price for a base 14 RT is also too high. I have not looked it up but I think BRP should be starting to throw out some good rebates on the 14's as the 15's are just around the corner.

The dealers prices on the 2013 and 2014 are too high and his service is way out of site
Find another dealer and go with the 2014 it is 100% better bike and you can probably find one cheaper than your dealer wants for the 2013
don

Sorry..!!

but if the difference is but $1,000.00 you make that up in the maintenance alone. You would be better off with the 2014 seeing as you already have doubts. They are both great machines you should really test ryde them both. I am more partial to the twin in the sport models but have seen the reactions of those ryding both the 990 and 1330 ace. Also shop around for price...

Willingness to travel to get the deal you are looking for is a tremendous bargaining advantage, especially if they can verify that the deal really exists and not just made up. My 2012 RT-S was picked up new for less than $22,000 all because I had a deal in Texas for that price and the dealer in Atlanta didn't want to lose me. Atlanta dealer was mad but sold it to me anyway. They got angrier when I didn't buy the extended warranty, tire warranty, or the pre-paid maintenance plan. You have more leverage than you may be aware of. ...Don

I'd be shopping around if I was you. That is way too high for 2013 and it would be a crap shoot if it would be a heat issue or not. I'd go with a 2014 cause I think for the most part they got most of the bugs worked out of this one. Plus the maintance is less costly in the long run.

Thank you everyone!!

Blueknight911 has told me more than once that I should be calling his place out in Indiana. His price was 21500. He is absolutely right! And so are all of you for that matter.... Thank you!!!!

A couple red flags here. I would not purchase a new 2013. You either get a good one or not. I don't like to stick my neck out to far.

2013 RTS for 23,999--way to high. Have heard of these going for $20K and sometimes less.

An initial oil change service should cost no more than $250 - $300. You should not have to pay for adjustments or updates. That is on BRP and the dealer. If it needs adjustments that is the dealers fault in preparation.

You dealer is a scam and a ripoff artist. Run, run, run, run!

Service

I have a 2013 RT Limited leftover and I only paid $260 for my 600 mile service. I love my 2013 :spyder2:. Whatever you get you will be happy. Good luck

FYI to everyone on the thread-- do remember that labor prices are very much a regional thing. While the 600 mile service *should* cost only about $300, mine cost a whole heckuva lot more than that because *everything* costs more around here, particularly motorcycle maintenance. It's a shame there is such a variation nationwide, but it's not unusual.

I hear my SL friends talk about their wonderful-- and wonderfully inexpensive-- dealers, and I kick myself for having to live in one of the highest-priced cities in the country. :banghead:

That said, there is no harm at all in shopping around for service, *if* you're willing to trek farther to get it... only takes a phone call...

First service on the 2014s with the 1330 is at 3,000 miles... and each 9,300 miles after that!

Versus 600 miles; and every 4,600 miles for the 2013/998 combination.

theres a 2013 blue rts sm5 on ebay 17649 new, look it up,thats about the right price for a 2013 rts.:2thumbs:

There are brand new 2013 RTS limited's going in my area for under $20K!
My 600 mile service was $280 and they did everything including adding service bulletin stuff (grommets, gas cap, etc).
Mine is a 2011 RTS I bought used with only 450 miles on it.
Now you can get new 2013 RTS (not limited model) for almost what I paid for mine used!
The dealers here are not negotiating on the 2014's, at least not yet.

Paid $19,998.00 for my 2013 RT-S one week before Labor Day last year - No heat issues ever......600 mile service was around $250.00
