• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

AM I OK TO USE THE CASTROL 5-40 4T FULL SYNTHETIC IN MY 2015 998? DEALER SAYS BLENDED ONLY THERE VERSION OF COURSE.

THANKS STEVE

Well, it's the beginning of a new month so it's time for a new thread on oil.

Do a search on the word 'synthetic' & I'm sure you will have some reading for a few hours.nojoke

There is nothing wrong with using full synthetic so long as it meets the manufactures requirements.

Why do dealerships do this? They only hurt their credibility when they say stuff like this. As long as the oil is not SM rated and does not have any friction modifiers it will work fine in the 998 Rotax.

(Edit)

Sorry. I should also have said it should be JASO MA2 rated as well.

In a word "Yes". It's good oil. Castrol has been around for many many years. Check the JASA rating but I am pretty sure it is MA2.

Castrol

been using this oil since I got my 09 se5 3 years and 28k miles ago and have had no problems

The dealer just wants your $$. Thats all. Look in the manual and it says semi of full syn oil is fine as long as it meets the specs. Throw that page at the dealer and see what he says. Usually gets very quiet. Then find a new dealer if possible.

I'm really proud of you guys.

An oil thread like this often has at least one or two who say: "use exactly what the book says or your ride will explode in a ball of fire". :roflblack:
