• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

4600 mile service

Coming up on my first 4,600 mile service. Is the schedule calling for 4,600 on the odometer, or 5,200 (4,600 after the initial 600 service? I would presume the former, but thought I would make an inquiry of the experts!

Since it's supposed to be done at 4600 miles between services, you should have 5200 on the clock when this one is done...
and then 9800 for the NEXT time!

Can't find a link to what exactly is done on the 4600 mile service?

Didn't check my manual :opps: is it spelled out in there?

.

Short version:

Oil and filter change, check over bike, lube front end, Buds check and update if necessary.

Just a reminder for those with 2008-2012 models

Just a reminder for those with 2008-2012 models (not sure if it changed for 2013), the manufacturer revised the printed maintenance schedule in the original owner's manual and sent updated pages to registered owner's to incorporate in the manual.

Some owner's may have gotten lazy and not updated their manual and the instructions were lost; never received; others, may have resold their Spyders without providing the new pages to the new owners; etc.

FYI, I have a version of this that does NOT exclude California. I wonder why some have this and others dont?

I poked around and found this about the California exclusion.

Please note that this new maintenance schedule has not yet been approved by C.A.R.B and is not intended for California models yet. BRP is awaiting final approval from C.A.R.B. The new oil filters however can be installed immediately. These new filters have improved oil filtration and improves shifting on SE5's as well as extending the service intervals (outside of California of course).

So obviously sometime after May 2012 C.A.R.B must have apporived it for Ca.

Little checking..!!

regardless of the mileage the manual does show what should be done at each service. Many of the things can be done by owner. Manual is a good read, do check the updateds cause valve adjustment is the one thing that has been moved...
