• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 3000 mile checkup!

I-Day

New member
I just got to 1000 miles on my F3T and according to my manual I need to take it in for checkup at 3000 miles. Problem is I will be on a 4000 mile road trip when she hits 3000 miles. Can I get the checkup early? Is late ok? Is the oil in a new bike designed to take the heat for long periods of time? It has been 95-100 here now for two weeks with no sign of letup. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Ahh Yes....

As I see it...you could do an oil change any time along the way if you want your dealer to do the service. You could set up an appointment at a dealer along your route and have them do it. I would go over rather than 2000 under. Many go over even as much as a 1000. Brp rates their oil good for 9300 miles I don't , I do use their oil blend cause it is good but only for 4 maybe 5000....you have options..

Do you know if the oil that comes in a brand new bike the real oil or is it a breaking in oil?

I would find a dealer on the road ... do like HD riders stop at every dealer you encounter to kill time and get a shirt if they have one.

If you decide to do an oil change on the road you really should make an appointment in advance. Oil changes are not emergencies so don't expect a dealer to fit you in just because you're traveling.

I went 1,000 over on my first service and also on a BRP owned RT that I was test riding. BRP had no problem with me going over and my Spyder hasn't had any oil related issues.

I'm in the same boat. 1000 miles on the clock and expect to do another 1000 before going on a 2000 mile tour. I spoke to my dealer who said no worries but don't go too far over the 4000 mark.
