There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 3/4 Helmet and cold weather riding

Just switched from an Icon full face to a 3/4 helmet (Scorpian EXO 700 Transformer) and was wondering what people who use 3/4 helmets use for cold weather riding to minimize the "wind burn" from the cold air. I do have a balaclava for extremely cold days but this is more useful to stay warm and not really used as a wind break. I noticed that there are neoprene type masks similar to ski masks that can be purchased. Just wondering what others use and their experience with whatever they use.

Thanks in advance.

There are also lighter weight balaclavas made of silk, nylon, or Cool-Max. I also like a turtleneck or neck protector. I seldom wear a 3/4 helmet anymore, however, and in cold weather I always wear full-face, with a chin protector on my Scorpion. There are also bandanas and face protectors available.

3/4 when it is hot and fall and early spring full face. Just went back to the full face as it is getting cold here in buffalo and I hate it. It is so much better with a 3/4

I'll be back to full face when it's colder. Just rode home from the BBQ - and my face got windburn pretty good today - very chilly going at 80 mph on the highway all the way home - rain stayed behind us though which was good.

humm...were where riding where the speed limit was 80!:lecturef_smilie::roflblack:

80 or so only in passing trucks. Didn't do it constant but there were parts where it was fun to do it! Spyder likes faster speeds - seemed to purr the faster I would go. Plus it got colder as we headed North and it rode better - I think it likes the cooler weather too.

I wish I could say the same about the rain. We rode home through a lot of it, pretty intense at times. I even got to experience the Spyder hydroplaning phenomenon while going through some deep standing water. Pretty exciting. Oh well, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger...:coffee:

I don't even like driving a car in the rain! Glad you made it home safe and sound! It's nasty here today - but sun will come out tomorrow! Time to wash the :spyder:!

Was great to meet you!

Great meeting you too, Kim. Here are a couple of the pics I took at Lamont's; I thought you might like them.

Sorry, rleathen, I think I just jacked your thread! To address your original question, I like to wear my Eddie Bauer neck warmer under a 3/4 helmet. I can pull it up over my chin, and although it is a thin material, it keeps me toasty warm.
