There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2up rear shock install Questions

Actually there are a few other options:

Find an honest mechanic would be my number 1 choice. Whining? Really? I call it smart business. When I had my 2012 RS SE5 I had a non dealer install my front Elka's, it took him 30 minutes to install. My Spyder dealer wanted to charge me 200.00 per side to install. Maybe some people have more money then brains. I have very limited of the first and slightly more of the second. Really quite simple.

Look up the word "pragmatic". If you do not like the dealers charges, get out your wrenches and do it for

free. Complaining on here will not solve your problems. Sounds like your not going to install it anyway.

two up shock

First, I purchased a new 2up shock on Ebay for about 117.00 (which included shipping) and wanted my local dealer to install it for me. I offered for them to purchase the shock first but they said they could not match the Ebay Price of 117.00 and advised me to purchase on my own and they would install it for me. I asked them how much to install and they quoted 3 hours for $237.00. I am "what"!!!!!! 3 hours to install a rear shock, you got to be out of your mind!!!! I could have sworn that F3 owners here on SpyderLovers were doing it themselves and saying it was pretty easy and quick (less then an hour). I could be wrong but wanted to check with you guys first before I tell them they are crazy. I complained to the dealership owner and he talked to the shop and got it reduced to 2 hours but I still think that is way to much. Let me know what you think.

Just so you know, I don't have the tools or the upper body strength to do this myself.

My other option is to have my scooter mechanic do it for me. I still own a modified 50cc scooter and this dude will come to my house to work on my scooter and my spyder (only mods, no engine or other core functions of the spyder).

I just contacted two dealers in my area and both were unable to assist with a price for the new upgraded shock for my 2015 Spyder F3. They did not seem to be aware of an upgraded shock. I used the part number listed in one of the other threads and went on line to powersportswarehouse.com and the price is $149.99 for quote "occasional two up shock". So I am guessing that is it so I will buy and do it myself.

I am a bit disappointed with the info from the local dealers and glad for the help from this forum.

Just contacted a third dealer who also has no idea about this upgraded shock however they at least have promised to do some investigation and call me back.

That's the one. I got a dealer in Florida to pricematch that site, plus local tax of course.

Like I said my scooter mechanic will charge 40.00 for 1/2 hour labor. Wont pay outrageous price of Spyder dealer, why should I? When there are other options. Like I said some people have more money then brains. I will pay dealer prices on the more technical aspects of the Spyder, Engine, Transmission, computer, etc.

I purchased my shock from Ledgewood Powersports. They were dropping the Can Am Spyder Line and liquidating parts and accessories.

Could be a smart move. I was always crappy in grammar but it is "some people have more money than brains". Good luck on your install and let us know if your scooter tech was able to complete the job in 30 minutes.

I don't believe he was "whining" he was just stating a fact. That the dealer was trying to rip him off. It seems as though you have unlimited funds to just pay them any and all they ask. But most of us don't have that kind of funding. And most of us are not that able to do the work ourselves. Lack of tools and education! So to me your putting him down was uncalled for.

I placed on order with this place ( powersportswarehouse)on 08/11, has not been shipped yet, sent them multiple emails, tried to call and after 20-30 min hold time just empty promises that someone will call me with an update. At this point I have no choice but to dispute the charges with my credit card. I don't think they have it

Hmmm. That doesn't sound like very good customer service. They shouldn't charge your card until the order is shipped.

I've placed 2 orders with them in the last couple of months and have received my stuff in about 5-6 business days later. They have also emailed me a Fed-Ex tracking # when an order was shipped.

BRP genuine instructions

Hi,

All BRP genuine accessories have a recomended 'Instalation time is approximately 1.5 hour' usually on page 2. Before icon legend. Instruction sheet P/N 487 801 585.
To fit BRP FOX Factory series 2.0 podium RC2 Rear shock 'Instalation ..... 1.5 hours.
This shock has an oil resevoir which adds removal of 2 more panels.
I would suggest negotiating hours based on the document ion from BRP.
I am not sure what document would indicate 3 hours, when the 2 up shock is a simpler swap.
Hard pannier models may be more complex.
Note that European /Australian/Japananese/NZ will take longer because you have to R and R the rear blinkers/ turn signals about an extra 30 minutes (arpinta).
I am fortunate to be able to afford dealer prices for parts but also fortunate to do ALL my own mechanical work. As a Fully licensed motor mechanic with an automotive engineering degree.
I purchased my first bike from Westerns 40 years ago (the first one he sold) and purchased the first Australian F 3 s from him, just old school loyalty and he is still in business 40 years on. He is not a millionaire and employs 15 people. I do purchase on ebay but try and keep some locals in business. It is about what a person feels is fair subjective).
