I'm thinking on going with the 225/50R-15 Kumho Ecsta AST on the big end.
From the number of posts it seems to be a popular alternative.
What tire pressure are folks running this tire at?

It's an actual car tire, I do believe the sidewalls are some rigid compared to the Kenda, still running 28 in mine. Great tire for the price, hardly showing any wear.

i run 22psi in mine,but I run in between that and 18 psi in all my rear tires. They are not as good in the rain but for the price they are great.

Question: By running a "car" tire; can you run with a bit lower pressures for a softer ride if you want? I've been using 25 psi in my Falken... Should I run it up to an air pump? :shocked:

When we ride 2up for any length of travel 38psi
Spydette's daily travels 32psi. No issue's in a 3-4in hour rain recently. FYI: I run 26psi in the front. 23k on oem front{many more miles left} 18k on the oem rear. I have noticed that DPS was initiated on a few occassion's. According to the BRP Tech in Durango it requires some flex float in the frontend to compensate for "Nanny".. I don't do spongy, so I'll be pulling over from time to when ever the front bites and wakes up nanny.. Pull the key take break and back at it again.. So far it works for me..

I run mine 36 one-up, 40 two-up and 44 two-up pulling my trailer. Got 12k on the stock tire to the wear bars. Got 21k to the wear bars on the Kumho.

...which is why I chose the Michelin HydroEdge instead. They cost a bit more than the Kumho, but are still far cheaper than the OEM tire. Went with the 215/60R15 because that was the closest size to the original they made. Found my speedometer & odometer are more accurate with this size too.

I like it at about 33psi. I rarerly have a passenger. I had a Kuhmo that lasted me over 30K miles, I know have a Falken which stinks. It's wearing faster than the stock.

I have the BIG-FAT KUMHO out back, and 2 smaller KUMHO's up front...
i now have 13,000 miles on all 3 tires... i've tried different 'psi' frt & rr, and i find that the higher the pressure the harder the ride (obviously)... you need to take into consideration how you ride and if you carry a passenger all/most/some times... running my KUMHO's at BPR recommended pressures makes my SPYD3R feel loose & squishy... i've found that 30 psi out back, and 25 psi up front works for me... however, on long hauls, flat roads, i increase a few psi... on the twistees, i drop down from the 30/25... i would recommend you start high, and let a little out until you find your COMFORT ZONE, dependent on your riding style... also, it depends on how you have your 'shocks' adjusted....

You might want to take a look at the 205/60-15 line up of tires. lots to choose from and if you check it against a tire calculator you'll find it real close in overall size to OEM. I've got 7K on a General and pleased with it. Got caught in some heavy downpours on way to Lamonts BBQ on curvy mt roads and it handled well; no issues for such a long wearing (based on 70K warranty) tire, nor with Nanny. Not pushing one size over another, and nothing against Kumho which has a good track record with Spyders.

Ran mine at 30 PSI... I'm at 10.5k Miles in it and it is time to replace it... I could probably stretch another 1 to 1.5 K out of it, but it is already bad in the rain.

Now... I ride the Spyder pretty hard... So that is part of the low miles on my Kuhmo...

There are better choices... A lot of us went to the Kuhmo at or near the same time. I've spoken to many of those who had one... same complaints, worse in the rain compared to the Kenda... and it gets far worse than the kenda as it wears... even at equal mileage...

Going to try a toyo next.
