2025 RT Ltd GPS/Navigation - will it work with Android phones, or must I have an iPhone & headset?

I have a 2018 Spyder RT Ltd that I bought new. Thinking about possibly trading it in on a 2025 RT Ltd, but have a question about the 2025's GPS navigation implementation.

Since I got my current Spyder I have used my Android phone in conjunction with BRP Connect and Sygic to provide the in-dash navigation function. However from what I have read, it appears that starting in 2024 when BRP introduced the 10.25" dash screen the new Spyders are no longer compatible with Android phones for the GPS/Nav. function.

If that is correct and I decide to upgrade to a '25 RT Ltd, it appears that in order to implement the GPS/Nav. function I would also have to purchase both an iPhone and a helmet headset and set things up using Apple CarPlay.

I would very much appreciate any information someone may be able to provide about this so I can better understand what I'd be getting into with my potential upgrade.

Thanks.

Yes, if you want navigation on the Spyder's display.

You can still mount your Android phone on the handlebars, and use it to navigate without using the Spyder's display.
The question I don't know the answer to is wheter you can Bluetooth pair your Android phone with a helmet headset.

It was a lot cheaper just to buy a Garmin Zumo XT2 plus it can receive weather overlay on the map as well as traffic if your Android phone is running Garmin Tread app.

As it says - it runs Apple Carplay so you need an Apple iPhone to communicate. One can use a Bluetooth receiver plugged into the rear power USB to make the bike think that it is a headset and Carplay will work.

Thanks to all who replied to my question. Much appreciated!

I am considering a '25 as well, I wonder if anyone has tried a MagicBox 2 (or now 3) to make an android work. The magic box hooks to the bike as a CarPlay device, but hooks to the phone as an android auto. Works well in cars, and I would think would work on an RT. Hoping someone has given it a shot.

I'm using the INNOVV N1Pro on my 2025 RT S2S. It's Android Auto and Apple Car Play plus a dashcam. It works perfectly and I have it setup to start Waze automatically. Great for navigation and road hazard warnings (read police) in the helmet through my Cardo.

Can you tell me what brand of a bluetooth receiver you used? I want to make sure I get one that will do the job.

My husband and I looked at the bluetooth receiver on Amazon. I'm assuming the other plug doesn't get plugged into anything? Is there anything else we need to do to make Carplay work? I have a 2024 RT3 Limited. Hopefully, we can make this work.
That's right Luisa, the plug on that unit does not do anything. I just keep the receiver plugged into the USB jack in the rear/top compartment all the time and Apple Carplay recognizes it the same as it would recognize a helmet receiver. I just followed the procedure in the owner manual to set up Carplay and it works very well.

Ok, maybe I'm a little slow here...

We have Bluetooth helmets that get connected to the Spyder. This is not needed?

This Amazon Bluetooth receiver would pair via Bluetooth to my Android phone, but looks like an iPhone via CarPlay on the Spyder?

Then when connected, you're using Sygic for your navigation on the 10.25" display?

If you have Bluetooth helmets that are compatible with the Spyder's Bluetooth system then the Amazon Bluetooth unit being discussed here is not needed. Spyders with the 10.25" display only work with an iPhone, not with an Android phone. I do not have a Bluetooth helmet, so I use an iPhone 12 and the Amazon Bluetooth receiver to connect to the Spyder's Apple Carplay system. Yes, I use Sygic for navigation, which is installed on the iPhone. This setup works well for me.
