2022 Ryker Sport Fuel Tank Cover - How to Remove?

Have searched the Owner and Service Manuals for this machine but see nothing about how to remove the fuel tank cover to access the fuel pump. What am I missing? Any guidance would be most appreciated.

TIA

Page 74 of the service repair manual shows a picture of the tank cover. It has two tabs that pinch fit onto the tank. My guess is that once you have removed any button clips holding it in place, it should pull off. It might require a firm yank though, Ryker panels can be tricky to remove the first time... let us know how ya get on.

Appreciate it, but the images on page 74 only show the tank with its locating tabs, and the inside of one frame rail (RH) with its mating tabs for the tank. No picture of the tank cover itself. Page 73 does, with detailed instructions, "Remove the fuel tank cover."

Seriously!?

I'm just going to remove the front retention rivets and go from there. Can't be all that difficult.

Beth’s video, in case it’s helpful.

Yeah, I've seen that.
Seeing how floppy/loose her cover was at 3:40 in the video by simply removing just the front push-pin rivets had me over-thinking that something wasn't being shown. Admittedly, I haven't pulled my pins yet, but my cover really hugs the tank itself with virtually no movement what-so-ever, like there's something in the rear that's keeping it in place.

As mentioned above, we'll see what happens when I get the pins pulled - BUT - I'm leaving my shoes on. I moved on from that 58 years ago... I think.

Thanks again.

I hear you, I cringe to think how often I would stub my toes. But I'm clumsy at best. Good luck, let us know how things go.

Well heck, looking at the maintenance schedule in the service manual I'm just now realizing my fuel filter should have been replaced several thousand miles ago. No part # for the fuel filter? Or am I just missing that, too? 🙃 Thanks

Sarah

Thanks, you two. Hmmmm. Someone just happened to ask on one of the FB groups, let me see what turns up there. Stay tuned.

Okay, gathered some info from FB posts, thanks again DickB if you happen upon this thread. Prefilter kit 715900322 is for the 2019-2021 bikes, 715900677 for 2021-2025. Per Can-Am Partshouse the kit for my '22 Sport is also used by the 2022 Outlander 570, but the online owners manual for the 4-wheeler doesn't list fuel filter replacement as part of the maintenance schedule, unless I've missed it. I think I'm just going to leave it alone unless I begin to suspect a problem. Thanks again, everybody.

Rats!

Not really what I wanted to say, but being a family channel I bit my tongue.

I finally had enough time today to shuck the Ryker’s tank cover so I could access the fuel pump. I needed to see the pump’s part number and check it with the list BRP put out in their pump recall notice. The PO never responded to the original notice that went out a while back, so I got it around December since I’m the new owner.

Gonna have to get over to one of the dealers and make an appointment to get the thing swapped out. If they have the pump, it should be an easy swap since I’ve done most of the grunt work and it can be readily accessed. Want to get a real set of keys for it too since mine are just magnets.

Glad to be able to get this taken care of. I will be traveling over in the wilds of Wonderful West Virginia this summer and I sure don’t need to be worrying about the fuel pump taking a dump.

Made it over to a dealer yesterday, on the way to the doc for a Nuclear Stress Test (getting old sucks!), and they have me on the books, but had to order the pump. Gonna call when it gets in... which I hope is soon. Going to take care of the "dumb" key issue too.

Ask about the Spyder shaft recall, and he just rolled his eyes back. He told me that units that had (IIRC) 30K or less, the shaft gets replaced. Above 30K, it's good.

Hope all was well with the stress test, Guy.

Had stage 2 (rest test) yesterday, but still not enough radioactive goop stuck in me that I glowed in the dark. The Test doc said she got all the info she needed, so they'll get passed on to the specialists to read the results (84 x 2 pictures) to find out if blood is going where it needs to be.

I'll tell ya, all this medical "stuff" is beginning to be a real pain.
