• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2022 Route 66 Ride

I will be retired Jan 2023 .So I would like to tag along 0n the 2023 Rt 66 ride. I just need to know the date of the ride as my wife books rv trips in the spring and summer months.

Rodger Fox from Jacksonville, IL organized "Ride for the Relay" to raise money for cancer research. The ride was route 66. It started in Chicago at the Navy pier and ended at the pier in Santa Monica. I don't think he is doing it any longer, Like most of us age got to be a factor. I have done the ride twice and I think we did it in early September. The "Ride for the Relay" website is still up and anyone that wants information could contact Rodger. He has lots of experience on Route 66. The worse weather I ever encountered was a downpour going into Amarillo, TX, other than that we usually had good weather.

Well, my plans kept changing. I did a New York to Venice Florida this year. That said, I am working on plans to ride Route 66 again starting June 3, 2025. My plan is for a more casual route with most days being 300 miles or less. There are a couple of exceptions. For example, day #1 takes me from home to South Bend, IN. We will overnight there and then ride 100 miles to the Route 66 starting point and then about 200 miles on Route 66 to Springfield, IL. During the trip there will be a 400 mile ride and a 350 mile ride. All in all the plan calls for 12 days with two days at the Grand Canyon.

As little side note about 'Route 66'. The 100th Year Anniversary is 2026.

I have learned that the State of Missouri is going to make a 'Big Adventure' about it.

Not sure what to expect but I will be on the lookout for additional information.

Anyone with more information, please let us know.

Have a great day. ....

:oldpost: This post dates back to June/2021.

Watch the dates on the posts.

This post has been dormant since March/2023.

Many early posters to the thread are no longer on the site.
