found the power connector behind the left upper tupperware. has a connection that is what i would say is not common to various devices that you would plug into. so, i want to connect a garmin 396 gps device to it. do i just cut off the connector and hardwire into the power source or find the plug-in thats works with the bike wiring?..

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

There is also a power source (keyed) on the right side behind the right upper tupperware.
ok got my attention. i hardwired the garmin connector up to this and checked with key on and the orange colored wire hot green not. checked the other end of the garmin connector in the cradle and same. rode around for about ten minutes and garmin worked and nanny was happy too.
When you say "left side" you do mean left as when sitting on the Spyder?
Did you connect this on the left side or right side?
Left side red to orange on ev1 or drecct splice. Garmin black to nearby ground. Check garmin cradle's pins top pin to gound should be 5-6 volts. Bottom pin should be o volts. Gps should power up on engine start and show charge on battery status. Will show loss of power message on engine cut off.
