• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2017 Line Up - ST Benched?

I really like my ST!!!! I test rode a F3-S on a Demo Day, I did not like the riding position and was not impressed by the 1330. I like the V-twin and I do not mind having to run
with the RPMs up higher. I run with the revs at 4500 to 5000 and when I twist the throttle the power is there!!! If you like low rev cruising then the 1330 is your motor.
If the V-twin is dropped, then I will keep my ST until it falls apart or blows up.

Here are the power curves for both. There is way more torque in the 1330

Without re-posting the "power-curve picture" of the triple; it's pretty easy to see that it's got about as much torque at 2,000 rpm, as the 998s do at their peak! :2thumbs:

Lamont...

I was not saying that the twin has more power/torque, I like the twin and the way it performs and it suits my needs and I ride at the edge of the power curve so when I want to scoot
I do not have any hesitation, end of story. If you like the triple then by all means, have at it!

I prefer the 998 too. I have ridden my father's F3 and found that the torque curve helps with the gearing and the weight of the machine. They seem to be very similar when my father and I line up. With so little difference it has to be a rider preference thing.

Just sayin'............

Me too

I also prefer the 998 engine to the 1330 for a number of reasons I've mentioned before on these pages (mostly the sound and the high revs). That said, it saddens me to agree with those who predict that the days of the 998 Rotax for the Spyder are numbered. :sour:

Who was it that said, "The only constant is change"?
