All they change was the color with a few minor options?? No info on engine improvements?? :-(
Many changes on the new F3 models F3-T and F3-Limited. Basically the RT with a lower seat. But as far as the F3-S no larger windshield, still vibration, Still bad quality saddlebags.
I've read a number of threads on the vibration issue. We have 2 16 F3 S's on order. Is there anything we can have done at the dealer/ahead of time to have an adjustment made? If we don't have the time, is purchasing a tensioner something most dealers would install?
Any new model introduced will usually have cosmetic changes or new accessories a year or so later. The F3 is no exception.
Here, I find the F3 new options to be way more than what BRP seems to have done in previous years with the GS/RS, the RT, or the ST.
It looks like they are trying very hard to go for a different market than previous.
I bought a first year 2014 RT triple and have been very pleased with it. Color changes and minor refinements only for 2015, seems just like a new color (blue) for the 2016 version.
Some of us were speculating that it was time for a new front end and rear end on the RT--but it has not happened. It was mentioned in another thread, like the Goldwing--they are getting the RT perfected. Expect very little change on that model each year for a while.
Buying first year and finding major changes the next year, is one of the hazards of getting the "latest and greatest."
For me in 2015 the jury was still out on the F3 concept. I adopted a wait and see. I am personally liking the possibilities with the changes appearing for the 2016 version. Am guessing that 2017 will be the "slow down" year for the F3.
I'm completely new to the Spyder's and just ordered 2 16 F3 S's(Triple Black) For me it really was about the concept of riding in the bike vs on the bike and from there the options that best fit our needs. Granted, I haven't ridden on other models to fully understand the "in vs on" but when I made the decision to purchase, that was the primary factor. I have to believe that the popularity of the F3 is largely due to this plus the larger engine. Seeing this, the logical next step was to add enough cruising accessories/options/models to those that really want something they ride IN. Amazingly they did that at the end of the first year of a completely new model which is no small feat. There are some things that kind of boggle my mind a little on little things like a USB adapter/glove box on the Limited vs the Standard F3 but I suspect we'll see some pretty cool things coming in the next few years as they hit the jackpot with the F3. I showed my wife how low that seating was and she immediately wanted to get her license and have her own. Just that alone is worth enough for me as it's something we can really enjoy as a couple.
I think you are going to be very happy. Recommend never looking back once the deed is done.:yes:
If you are an RT owner you will love what they are doing with the F3. But as a F3 owner, not a fan. I was hoping that any changes would be an even more aggressive styling. Meaner, darker. But it looks like they are turing it into another couch with wheels like the RT.
I have always been one to stay far away from first-model-year anything, due to typically not being able to get a discount; poor aftermarket support; various bugs not having been worked out yet, etc. I usually wait until something has been in production for at least 3 years, then I feel ok buying it.
When the F3 came out, I really loved it but was very hesitant to go for it because of my first-year rule. But in the end I went for it and absolutely no regrets. Mine is a very low number VIN, one of the first ones made so I felt like it was a real gamble but so far it's been absolutely fantastic (knock on wood!).
I am glad I went for the white S, and I am glad that BRP dropped the "red" frame in the new one because now I feel like mine is one of the extra special ones
I like the fact that they've added the funky low long ones with built in storage; I'll stick with mine though, I like it that much more. I do wish they made a trailer hitch for it but I've ridden without one for 20 years prior to this, made a 2400 mile trip without one so I figure I'll survive without one until someone comes up with one![/QUO
I think FencePost has a guy working on a design for a trailer hitch for the 2015.
