• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2015 RT LTD SE6 Seems Loud - Suggestions

Today I brought home my new 2015 RT LTD SE6 I have just purchased.

Question. I find the engine at idle speed is some what quiet, however as I put it in gear and drive I find the engine making more of a louder noise like perhaps a howl noise. I thought the engine would be quiet.
Is this normal? Since the engine is new will the noise dissipate?

My 2012 RTS SE5 was quieter.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

First, check if it is the fuel pump. Kill the engine and turn off the ignition switch. Let Spyder sit for a few minutes and then turn on ignition switch. If you hear a fairly high pitched whine that stops after a few seconds, that's the pump priming itself. Start the engine and listen to hear the high pitched whine above the other engine noise. If you do not hear the fuel pump prime itself it's fine, nice and quiet like it should be. If you do hear the whine, you have a noisy fuel pump so take it to the dealer and ask them to replace under warranty. Some dealers will and some won't because BRP has an issue with noisy fuel pumps that began in MY 2014 but they function fine other than being noisy. Mine's been doing it for 11,000+ miles and one year to the day but doesn't bother me because I'm both hard of hearing and wear ear plugs. If I find it getting any louder I'll open a case with BRPCare.

Remember, you've a new, entirely different engine and it isn't going to sound like a V-twin.

Because the 1330 is so basically quiet, compared to almost any m/c engine, when you "engage" the transmission
and the rest of the drivetrain, all of the "gear whine" and spinning part noise is more apparent.

Every bike has it, you just notice it more on the 1330 because the background noise is so low.

My 2014 rts done the exact same thing and it quit after 5000 miles. I guess it is the nature of the beast.
