• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. 2015 RT drive belt ...

On my last week trip I was forced to ride a road with new chipseal. I now have three holes thru the belt that were caused by 1/4 inch rocks being pushed all the way thru the belt. I have just ordered Spyderpops belt guard! A couple of questions...

Is the small holes enough to require the belt be replaced?

If replaced, anywhere I can get the belt and save some ??

Has anyone had the belt replaced - how much??

Has anyone tried to replace it them selves?

I need to get it done before the Red Rocks trip in late August.

I would replace the belt..I would have someone do it..Kinda a big job..Unless you are really handy..Belt is not cheap too..then labor costs..

From Cheap Cycle Parts "Drive Belt Model-RT 705501304 $309.99"

First I would make sure both sprockets are clean of any stones and tar.

If the holes through the belt are in the middle. You can keep driving with it. I personally would change it anyway and keep as an emergency spare.

If any of the holes are on the edge of the belt. It must be replaced right away. The belt is junk.

PROCALIBER.COM ........You must register ( for FREE ) to get the discounted Price list.........anything over $99.00 ships free , so get other stuff like spare bearings etc..........and :agree: with Billy on re-placement .....Mike

I had Spyderpops put one on @SpyderFest, just to be safe. Along with a new LED BumpSkid, Spyclops, Ron Bar with links and got Squared Away. Then I took care of the wife with a Ultimate passenger backrest and a full Misty Mountain Sheepskin. SpyderFest is dangerous to your budget.

about 300 bucks for a belt, I just replaced mine yesterday since mine had a hole from a rock in the middle. I rode for about 1000 miles with no problems. I put on a new tire so I changed the belt at the same time. not to difficult just takes patience. :D
make sure you check all slots in the sprocket for rocks, I found 3 more imbedded into the metal. not enough to poke through belt but could cause un even ware on the teeth of the new belt

If you have someone do it for you--figure about $350 for belt and labor. I would replace a damaged belt as soon as possible. A broken belt going down the road will add the expense of a tow to the total package price.

All of the above...

Good advice above. I do agree on changing the belt regardless of where the hole is. Replacing it is not that hard but if not mechanically inclined have it done aligned and adjusted. Might as well have bearings checked, brakes etc while they/you are there...
