• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2015 RS, RSS, ST Spyder

Would you trade your current RS, RSS, ST to a new one if it had the 1300 ACE Motor?

  • No, I think the current V-Twin is a better fit for the sportier models.

Personally I would be more interested in upgraded my 09 GS to the 2015 ST if it had the new motor. If and when I upgrade it will be to the ST for sure!! Time will only tell..

The ST frame will hold the ACE 1330 but the RS and RSS will not without major change. While the ST is likely I can't see the others getting that engine
anytime soon.

All the frames from 2013+ are the same.

It'll hold the engine; what about the ancillary components?
The new alternator
Twin radiators

The bodywork might just be the biggest hurdle to overcome.

Ok, so the 2014 RT series has the ACE 1300 engine w/6 Speed Transmission. And, by all early reports, it's a big improvement in many ways.

Granted, the RT is a touring machine. And though the ST is at least a semi-touring model, the RS and RSS certainly are not.

So, all of you die hard RS, RSS and ST owners out there that are not yet ready for the Big Kahuna of Touring RT, here is my question. Assuming that the current frame and suspension upgrades did not move you enough to dump your pre-2013 RS or RSS. Or, you're riding a 2013/14 RS, RSS, ST model. Would the ACE 1300 triple be incentive enough to get you to pull the trigger on a new RS, RSS, ST in 2015?

I pulled the plug and bought our '13 ST-L at full price of 24k:yikes:
That, along with the new Honda Accord means i'm through until one of them is paid off. Don't get me wrong, i'd LOVE a 2015 ST/RSS with the inline 1330...but being financially responsible prohibits me from doing so. Although our '13 is a great reliable ryde, i'd simply take way too much of a loss trading her in or selling her. Most likely, i'd be adding a 3rd Spyder in 2017-2018 since I can't see parting with the 2 we have. I'm a "toy collector" rather than a "toy flipper". I like to buy them and keep them for life

Maybe my 7 year old gets the '08 GS when he's old enough, and i'll get a brand new 20?? RSS with the hovercraft feature for land/water usage!!!

motors

So many motors in the products they make. I know there is a big one that has a supercharger in one of the sea-doos, maybe even in the Skidoo. I know there are lots of bullet-proof motors out there to choose from. The RSS needs to be the bad boy, the ST a bit hotter, and the RT stout enough to haul the trailer, 2 people, and all the gear.

I remember when the superchargers came out in the Seadoos, man what a ton of problems!

My buddy is one of the top Seadoo techs here on the East Coast and he was digging tons of those apart for supercharger issues. :yikes:

I would get a 15 ST if they changed motor and transmission. Transmission is the big thing for me. I want the increased fuel economy and lower cruising RPM. Oh, and it would help if they made one in Red also.

Mark has completed the wiring...but needs to put it back together....dealer put wrong fuse cover on fuse box...Mark fixed it...called dealer to let them know....I would...but too cold outside.....maybe in a couple of days....will be 70 degrees

I hope that they send you one! :2thumbs:
How is the re-wiring project coming along??

I guess that as long as progress is being made... :2thumbs:

You guys have been certainly through one heckuva rough ride with that bike... :gaah:

Wonder if BRP could use one larger center mounted radiator for the sport model to keep the width down for the RS and RSS? Could even tilt it if need be to get it in there, where there is a will there is always a way. I like my RT but I sure wish it would run with the pack without running it so hard. It will keep up but I have to twist it hard to do so.

Not a bad idea. Could come up with a nice grill treatment and maybe a scoop configuration to make it look Formula-ish...

:agree: And the RS added the 100 Pounds to the frame compared to the 08-12 models, and the ST and RS BOTH had some heat problems that may also have been to the Frame moving to prepare for a larger engine- Like the RT received ?
