• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2015 F3 letter to dealers: "only have seen part of the story!"

I must admit -- the slingshot is an interesting vehicle -- but its too much like a car -- and then you need helmets -- I get a kick out of the passenger in the ad screaming and waving her arms -- (I dont think so ) -- if I wanted something like that I'd get a Jeep Wrangler again -- sticking with my Spyder!!
My biggest problem with the slingshot is that I am afraid you will get run over. When on a motorcycle or spyder, you are at eye level, and people will move over into your lane and say they didn't see you. Just imagine what it will be like when you are below the cagers sight line. The slingshot may work for some, but I will stick with 2 wheels, or a spyder (once I finally get one :sour:)

You do have a very valid point there. I missed that one.

I have not look for or seen dimensions on a Slingshot. Being a motorcycle it no doubt avoids some design criteria a car must adhere to.

Hopefully it never happens, but one consideration I had when I saw the initial ads and photos was how will it do in a collision? Is it viable that something as simple as rear ending a pickup would provide no protection for the Slingshot occupants and give them an untimely death?

I did show the Slingshot photos to the wife and asked if she had an interest in going from Spyder to Slingshot. While not a two wheel moto girl, she opted to stay with a Spyder. Other options I tossed out were all cars, but open type cars like a Miata, S2000, or similar kit car.

I hope the Singshot is all it appears and very safe for those that buy them.

i second this request

Hey Lamont,

How 'bout pulling some strings and get BRP to bring a F3 to SpyderQuest!?
Could do it, and call it a pre- preview.
After all, Lake George isn't really that far from the border....

Bill

Maybe some string pulling is in order.

When we visited the Spyder Factory back in June, they mentionned to stay tuned, some nice things coming out. I hope there is more then the F3.

Maybe a youth model for the kids to ride around the back yard???? That would be RIGHTEOUS!!!!!!!

Just sayin'...........

I certainly hope not. Everyone to their own poison but there's a reason that Honda no longer makes their dirt trikes. My kids and my grandson grew up on dirt bikes but I never let any of them on a 3-wheeler or a 4-wheeler until they were old enough to pay their own way and, thankfully, they decided to stay on 2 wheels in the dirt. I don't have a problem with adults riding anything they want but, in my opinion, both 3 wheelers and 4 wheelers are far too dangerous for kids. The only way a 3 or 4 wheeler can crash is a high side and those are the kind of crashes that hurt. A 9 year old boy was killed just last week about 25 miles north of me when his 4 wheeler crashed and got on top of him. At least 3 kids have been killed in the last couple of years in this area when 4 wheelers got on top of them. A 3- wheeler can't be any better. In my opinion, Can-Am doesn't need the liability that goes with producing 3- wheelers for kids to ride.

Maybe I misread your post and what you have in mind is a pedal model or a push model or something and I would be fine with that but nothing for kids with a motor. I know there will be a lot of folks who disagree with me on this so flame away. But I sincerely hope that BRP doesn't build any 3-wheelers for kids to ride in the dirt.

Have to answer not flame. the three wheel ATV, once you learned how to ride them were not a big deal. Watch races of them, under control. I rode a Honda Three wheel ATV with a CB 750 engine in it. Learning how to ride is the big thing. I was a ATV instrutor during that time. "one of a thousand" was the buzzword for instrutors.
There all kinds of horror stories about ATV killing kids. One famous one was a blurry photo (or mayb vid) of a 10 year old kids flipping and getting killed on a four wheeler. Ban all ATV, which is what the feds wanted was the cry. Turned out the ATV was a Honda 250R (Racer), kid had flipped it several times that day, dad was drunk, no supervision by dad, but why a 250R to start with...... ATV is at fault ??

The thing with so many ATV incidents/deaths is allowing kids ride on to big/or powerful a ATV. Or any ATV they were not taught to ride and were not responible enought to ride.
Just like on road, ride what you feel best for you or your kids, it is your choice as you said.

what's wrong with sticking with the spyder and still having a slingshot in the stable? :dontknow::dontknow:

Personally, I liked this year's "silly season", saved me $4000+ on my new RT, which effectively drops my entry cost for the SlingShot too!!

On the www.spyderf3.com site (that Central Florida Powersports owns) they had a graphic that says that the dealer Club was at Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Connecticut. Interesting that information has now been taken down. :dontknow:
Foxwoods...

That's only about three hours from me...
...And my Birthday is the following week! :D

I think that I may head East, and start the celebration a bit early this year...

Your right, probably better to have something they have to balance on while they are learning to ride. That BS about high siding being the only way to seriously injure or kill yourself is uneducated non-sense. Two, Three, four wheels, or a track makes no difference. If you don't learn how to ride you will get hurt. Adequate parental supervision, riding education from someone whom actually knows, and starting small (working your way up) are the best ways to avoid tragedy. Two wheels can definitely kill and or mangle just as easily. Flat Landings equal broken backs. I have a friend whom is stationed in Alaska, and her husband was honorably discharged earlier this year. Less than 5 weeks after his discharge he had a dirt bike accident and was paralyzed from the neck down. I have a scar on the inside of my thigh where I low sided in a cornfield and nearly severed my femoral artery.

In short, next time keep your un-educated and ignorant opinions to yourself.

Just sayin'............

I'm not going to say what I'm really thinking and I'm not going to have a flame war with you. I didn't state opinions, you did. I stated facts. A 9 year old boy was killed when a 4-wheeler got on top of him. That's not an opinion, it's a fact. I've had friends hurt on dirt bikes and I've been hurt as well but none of them were 9 years old and none were killed when a dirt bike got on top of them. I also didn't say that high siding was the only way to seriously injure yourself. As far as being un-educated and ignorant, I've ridden just about everything that can be ridden offroad including 3 and 4-wheelers and I've done it for the last 45 years. I expect I'm as educated as you are when it comes to the dynamics of 2, 3, and 4-wheelers in the dirt. I didn't call you ignorant or un-educated even though you obviously had opinions which I disagreed with. I didn't make any disparaging remarks about you at all. I disagreed with your idea that BRP should make a Spyder for kids to ride in the backyard. I will not respond to any other posts that you might have about anything and I apologize to the original poster for hijacking this thread. Your disrespectful post has ended this conversation.

My kids are well past 35 now, and we all rode 3 and 4 wheelers - a lot, but never off road two wheelers. Fortunately, no one was ever hurt in the slightest.

Now I have two grandsons, who will be driving shortly, and I am looking forward to getting them out on the track in my new three wheeler - a SlingShot. That's one of the main reasons I'm buying one.
