There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2014 ST-Limited

Retired 2012

Newbie here, Have a chance to get a 2014 ST-Limited, are there any heat issues with this model/year?
Are there any other issues I should be concerned with?
Anyone have one of these and can compare it to the new F3-S?
Thanks for your assistance....

I took one for a rip on demo days last summer.
It didn't burn my legs off but it was definitely warmer than my 2014 RTL.
I haven't had a chance to take an F3 for a ride yet but would think that with it having the dual rads with them moved closer to the front it would be a cooler ride.

The only heat issue I have is my right foot gets a little toasty when I'm in traffic but only a few others had more serious heat issues. The majority of us dodn't really have much of a problem compared to other motorcycles. No ST blew up in flames & burn to the ground like about 6 RT's did.

Heat issues on the 2014 ST have been relatively quiet on the site. Most of the 2014 talk was about the 2014 RT with the 1330 triple engine.

So far, 99.987587656 of the buyers seem to be very happy with their purchase. Myself included.

You might save some money by purchasing a 2014 ST, but I do recommend a test ride on a triple. You might change your mind.

Tough one..!!

the comparison that is..the heat issues were dealt with and that should not worry you. The ST vs F3 is a bit tougher seeing as they are just now being delivered. Your best bet is go test ryde them and then decide...

I took a demo ride on a 2014RTS-SE6, and that is what sold me, so on July 30, 2014 I Bought a 2014RT-SE 6 in Cognac, and it is an AWESOME MACHINE.

The 2014RTS-SE6 has more power, with the 1300 ACE ENGINE. Good luck with the 2014ST-Limited.

I have No Issues. I think BRP hit the nail on the with the 2014RTS-SE6!

My wife has a 2013 ST Limited with the new panels and she does not have any issues with heat. She loves the look of the ST and does not care for the look of the F3. The ST is really sporty looking as opposed to the F3 which she says looks like our lawn tractor. She finds the F3 too expensive for what you get and she does not care about the new engine. We priced out an F3 with the options she has on her STL and the F3 is quite a bit more and you cannot get a radio on the F3. Her STL works great for her and she does not see a need for the bigger engine either. I can attest to that. I drive a Valkyrie Interstate (1500cc 6 cyl) and when we take off from a light I have to really give it throttle to keep up with her. nojoke The 998 engine is no slouch in the power department.

Thank you

Thank you all for the info.
Just returned home with the 2015 F3-S SM6
Had a great test ride and decided to go for it, windshield is on order.
Can't stop smiling, :D

I have a 2014 ST-L and I love it! I don't have any heat issues at all. I have put over 8300 miles on since July and riding during the summer months in Arizona is a little warm but absolutely no heat issues. The only issue I have had is right now it is leaking antifreeze from somewhere. It is in the shop getting looked at but I think this is just a single incident type of thing not a model year or make issue.

My husband has a Suzuki C90T Boss and I don't have any issues keeping up to him....in fact I can out do him in the corners

I'm sorry but I can't give any comparison to the F3. I haven't even seen one up close yet, just in pictures. I do like the fact that the ST does have more storage than the F3 though.

No matter which way you choose you just can't go wrong with a Spyder! I love mine!!!!!!

I don't think it's a single incident issue. I had the problem as well (mine turned out to just be a loose hose clamp) but there have been other reports of antifreeze leaks on 2014 ST's. Some have been simple, others have been a cracked coolant tank or leaking water pump seals.

Here's hoping yours is the simple kind.

Well, that was pretty fast. The 1330 triple is really something else for sure. Coupled with the F3-S riding platform, it sounds like you made a really good choice.

:congrats::congrats::congrats:

I bought my 2014 ST Limited in April last year put about 9000 miles on it. I haven't had any heat issues. I had anti-freeze leak out back in November. The dealer said this model does sometimes have a loosening of the line in cold weather but it was easily repaired by re-tightening.

No heat

My friend has STL 2013, and had many of issues with heat (almost burn on her thigh).
BRP took care of that issue in 2014.
i have STL 2014, there is zero issue with heat. Even in traffic, the bike little warm to touch, but you don't feel it on your legs .
i have 5000 miles in less than 4 months

Hmm - no one mentioned that a new F3S outfitted like a new 2014 ST Limited would cost $15,000 more... ($16K to $31K)..
