Okay seems in the morning its not a good time to come in and reply to something as I thought I was seeing 2014 RT when it was "RS"(:hun: oops) but as was suggested I should put my comment in this section instead so...................... Hear ya go... my thoughts on My 2014 RT Limited...

:2thumbs: I got mine!!! Mine is the limited and is Cognac with the Chocolate seat! I got it last Saturday and........ I... LOVE.... IT.....!!! Not really happy with the cost but you only live once and you might as well be happy while you are doing it!

I did have the problem with the lock tight on the oil line but that was taken care of while they paid for lunch..

As for the differences, 1st I had the
2011 RTS SE5 and rode it for more then a year and loved it.

  • The shifting is seamless you don't really feel when you shift like I did.
  • The turning is easier the could be just the two bikes but taking the ride to church and going the same way for more then a year it was easier to go though the corners then it was on the other.
  • One thing I need to get used to is it no longer was the electric Funk latch under the parking brake. The one of two things I found I wasn't pleased about so far.
  • The other is I can't change the radio stations without going to that section of the screen. But that's just a little thing.
  • When stopping at an idle the fans start up and the heat goes out the front my husband likes that cause he can get warm in front instead of at the "hell box", he can act like he is just looking at it instead of getting warm, after all he does ride a Harley...
  • The sound is so different I have to remember I'm not on Elvira anymore...
  • The mileage is wonderful I am not sure what it is yet because when they fixed the oil line they filled it back up I was just over 3/4 of a tank and I didn't set the trip like I normally do... But I did fill it when it was just a bit over 1/4 of a tank and that was only 4.67 gal.'s and I had already passed what I would have had before I would have been on the side of the road!

Well just lost some of this but I think I have it for you.. you have a great day! I have to go to work and can't ryde my Remy to work so I need time to pout
:banghead:

Nice !!

review...we have many coming in from a 5' ryde to some 3,000 miles. Great information for those sitting on the fence..thanks..!! :ohyea:

Thanks from a Fence Sitter!!

Actually a two wheeling yet fence sitter. I try and get on here every day and see what is being said or reported on the new 1330 Ace powered RTs. Other than the oil drip thing, the Frunk switch thing, and the unfamiliar engine sound there doesn't seem to be any major issues yet and that's a good thing. Thanks for your report!!

I have a feeling that once you do a test ryde you will be hooked. The wait is killing me for sure.

I have to tell you all, I just love the way my 14 RT S SE-6 rydes and handles. I have not been able to load up the miles on it as of yet but the ryding I have done on it is just remarkable. I was a Goldwing rider until 2011 when I bought my first RT S and now this 2014 is to say the least WOW:yikes:. I did notice that the over hang of the dash seems to come back a bit further than on the 2011 which is good as it keep the sun from glaring off the dash.

There is one farkle I know I want to add to Camus and that is the SpyderPops Bumpskid I truly liked the one I put on my 2011 and I know I will like the one he puts out for the 2014. I will probably be looking for a dash mount bag some baker air-wings for him. I like the BRP backrest that I had put on and am hoping to get lots of use out of it.

Just my 1.5 cents worth

Power band

My brother and I just picked up our 2014 Spyder RT Limiteds yesterday and I got my first 100 miles in it. One thing we have discussed is the power band of this engine. We have rode Harleys for years and you could easily bog the engine. However we note that you can punch the 1330 Rotax engine when going under 40mph and In 6 gear and accelerate with no problem. Amazing performance and acceleration.

Two More Cents

First thing I noticed was the steering is MUCH easier than on my previous '11 RT. Not only when barely moving, but at cruising speed as well; not that its needed at cruising. I imagine this is mostly a result of the positioning of the shocks they did in '13.

Love the SMOOTH shifting up and down; darn near seamless. 6Th is very tall and only needed for high speed cruising.

Sound is almost too quiet; I don't listen to the radio, but the engine instead! Afraid I must say I liked the 998 sound better. Maybe I'll put an aftermarket muffler on later...something I've never wanted before.:)

With barely over 650 miles on my 2014 RTS, i can tell you that i am impressed and very happy with this new ryde.

Shhhh it's a secret that only 2014 RT owners can know until Bob gets his, but I can tell you that when you need it, it sh*ts and gets quite well

:yes::yes::ohyea::ohyea::doorag:

:D I got my back rest also didn't like it at first then figured out my chaps back strap was hitting me right there but  when I figured that out it was great! I am blown away with the gas mileage I am getting I went to Tampa and back and didn't even use a 1/4 of a tank! on the RTS 11 I would be below a half a tank if not just a 1/4 tank left!

I have got 248 miles on it now, (I did all but one mile of that), and I got it last Saturday and I can't ryde to work so I am not doing bad on the miles.. I got it up to 75 before I knew it and the top speed they have is 200 I also found its easier to turn. I have found there are times if you keep the parking brake and put it into gear it will die on you.. but if you take it off and step on the break it will start right back up..

florida bound but the question is where do i rent one in Ft.Myers ????

X two wheeler

I have ridden 2 wheels 4 over 50 years. Almost every model there is out there. The last 13 years on a Harley Ultra & Road King. I elected to switch due to aging and health issues. Got to say right up front that i loved my Harleys and still get a rush when I hear one go by. But there is absolutely no comparison between the two type machines. I only test rode a 2013 RT for 25 miles but insisted on the newer one due to all the upgrades. One thing that sticks in my head from what I've heard and I find true is the difference between the 988 and 1330. It was stated that the big twin riders have a harder time adapting to the high revving smaller engine. The 1330 brings performance more in line for those folks since the power band is thru the entire throttle roll out. What I mean by that is that it is seamless. Although Unlike my Harleys you could feel when it was time to shift if it dropped below 2K rpm. Not so with the 1330. I can slow down to under 40 while in 6th gear and punch it without any hesitation. So no where close to how the 988 operated in the higher rpm range. Hope that all helped you!;)
