There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2014 RTS - howl

I tested a 2014 RTS with semi automatic tranny yesterday. While the tranny will take some getting used to (if I make the deal I'll trade my 12 RT A&C with manual), the howl from the engine caught me by surprise. Salesman said all triples howl, and said it was normal. he started a Triumph triple which had a little, although not like the RTS.

Any confirmation that these things howl, especially when letting off the throttle?

Also, any idea what my 12 is worth on trade? It has aftermarket floorboards and the Baja Ron bar. 10k miles.

Any help is appreciated.

Compared to the 998 rotax--the 1330 ACE has a little bit of a wind up sound. I like it. Shift points seem to be between 2500 - 3000. I have taken it up to 4500 but do not find to much of a howl going on.

Value for your trade is going to depend upon a gazillion things. Keep in mind that its the actual cash you pay out or finance--taking all things into account. They can reduce the price off MSRP and not give much trade in--or they can give you a heck of a trade in and not reduce the MSRP--end result--the same.

2012--without looking at KBB I would say ballpark 20-22K. Farkles don't count for much. I recommend pulling them and selling them separately. I got around $15K for my 2010 with 35K miles.

I test drove a 2014 RT SE at the owners event in Durango. Great machine but I did notice it was a very noisy with all the fans and humming going on. But what I heard would not be called a howl.

 I just keep the radio volume pegged, and not even the Missus can get through to me! :D
Seriously; triples do have their own unique sound... think of it as a mating call...

MIne quit howling, when I pulled it forward a little bit, and got it off the top of the Missus' foot... :roflblack:

Compare 2013 to2014

I have both a 2013 RT-s and a 2014 RT-s. I like the sound and quick response of the 2013 better than the 2014 triple. My 2013 has a throaty sound and the 2014 is more of a whine. The 2013 has better acceleration and is really quick. I think the 2014 will be a better cruise for trips and the 2013 will be more fun around town. Just my 2 cents worth but they are both good bikes but very different. I thought after getting the 2014 I would want to get rid of the 2013, one is in Washington State and the other is in Az., but I'm keeping both. The 2014 doesn't have the heat problems of the 2013 but if I wear boots and at least jeans it is ok. Road 50 miles today in 100 degree temps with no troubles. If I want to wear shorts my right calf gets really hot. I may get a block off plate or just wear the right gear. If some one asked me which one to buy I would have a hard time picking one over the other.

I have both 2011 (A & C RT) and 2014 RTS. I now prefer the 2014 to the 2011. No heat issues to worry about on the 2011.

My local dealer has two RT-S SE5 scoots taken on trade. A 2011 and a 2012....both with low miles. He is asking 16K for the '11 and 18K for the '12. He said resales are not good as folks want the '14 models. The more I talked to him, the more I like BR1....
