2014 RTS Analog temp gauge not working - any ideas?

Haven't ridden the bike in a while. Took it out for a short ride and noticed the temperature gauge was not moving. Fuel gauge seems to work ok, but it was stuck. After shaking the bike, it came up to 3/4's. Anyway, the temp gauge never moved after riding for a distance. Pulling into the driveway the fans kicked on. Yes, I removed the dash, pulled both the gauges, and went to Digital on the display. Yes, the temp gauge and the fuel gauge work on the display. Are these fused? Are they hard sensored to the motor and gas tank?

You could check F7 Left, but I'm sure it's ok. You'd have a lot more things going on if that fuse was blown. And, you've activated the digital displays, and verified that the sensors are working OK, because you have good indications. On your 2014, the engine temp sensor feeds into the ECM, which then forwards the signal to the Cluster. The Cluster then drives the gauge. The fuel sender goes straight to the Cluster, then the Cluster drives the gauge. There was somebody on here not too long ago, and I believe this was also a 2014, with similar issues. I'm beginning to suspect the gauge "drivers" - for lack of a better word - on the cluster are going belly up over time.

So, you could pull out the main cluster and check that big connector on the back, in order to check for moisture or corrosion. See what you find there. If all is well there, and because you've disconnected the gauges and the digitals work, I would consider the issue resolved. Use those holes for something else. I wouldn't put a lot of time nor money into a 10 year old bike...especially when I had the indications working, just in a different format. but that's just me.

I removed the analog fuel and temp gauge's on my 14 RTS and placed a USB and 12v power source in their places. This was one of the first mods I did when I purchased my 14 and didn't have any issues during ownership. I liked the digital gauge better since they are more accurate than the analog.
